I have no direct experience with the guide rod, but it appears the issue is related to the spring length, not the rate. I would hold off on this for now if I were you until a resolution has been found.
As far as the trigger, I put an Apex Tactical Polymer trigger and spring kit in my son's SD9VE, and I can't recommend it enough. Best $50 you can spend on upgrades. I purchased mine from MidwayUSA - Shop Shooting, Hunting, & Outdoor Products .

I Have had No Issues with Stainless guide rod kit and have also installed The Apex trigger kit and Galloway spring kit, Completely new gun , Did not like the stock hinged trigger, Firm and really crisp trigger. cant go wrong with that set up,

I put the stainless guide rod in mine because the original was showing signs of wear, but I put the 17lb in as S&W recommends and have had no problems with it. Personally I don't need to change anything else about the gun.

Welcome aboard,

Just throwing this out there, If you do anything to the gun that modifies it and it can't be turned back to stock form, bye bye warranty.

Personally I bought the gun to modify, "WARRANTY BE DA****"

Another thing, CERTAIN PARTS ARE NOT EASY TO COME BY, S&W
IS STINGY WITH PARTS.

You would have to send gun in to S&W in most cases, a parts list was never released as far as I know ?

Aftermarket parts are not as popular with this gun, but are getting
there.

So if you're like me, polish, grind, cut, ect... bye bye warranty.

Just changing parts out is ok, just keep old parts so you could put
it back to stock configuration for warranty purposes.

There's knowledgeable people on this forum, some don't like any
any mod's as I've learned other's like me do.

One thing I had problems with other than the NDZ Glock 19
replacement steel R.S.A. was the reduced power firing pin spring.

I had misfires with it, went back to stock.

HOLY CROW IT'S GETTING LATE, 3 out

Im trying to locate a polymer rod /w 20LB flat spring, but no luck.... ** Any help on links to the polymer rods would be appreciated..

You guys that went to a stainless steal guide rod, which rod did you purchase ?

Did you check for spring stacking ?

What lb. spring and for which caliber ?

Thanks, 3

That rod I purchased from amazon came in today, 3. Exact same dimensions as a stock rod, save .003" of overall length, and causes the slide to stop at full recoil in the exact same spot as the stock rod/spring did. I think the rating on the spring is 19#. Haven't shot it yet, going to tomorrow afternoon.

I've installed the Apex Trigger and spring kit as well as the Galloway Precision Stainless guide rod with a 20# recoil spring.

The gun ran flawless with both 115 gr. range ammo and 124 gr. Sig Elite Performance JHP.

IMHO, each upgrade that I have done has improved this weapon. I would recommend all of them as they are well worth the money. My SD9VE went from good out of the box to what I would consider just about perfect. Only thing left to mess with for me are the sights and of course correcting my bad habits.
