I recently saw a new SD9VE in a local pawn shop and grabbed it immediately as they have been nearly impossible to come by lately. My wife just bought a SW9F she came across. I couldn't help but notice that the magazines are nearly identical. Does anyone know if these are fully interchangeable? Also, her SW9F came with a 10-round mag. Didn't these originally come with a 17-round or was the 10 an option?

I think the 10 round mags were supplied while the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994 was in effect. On the other hand, if your 9F was made prior to that law, then someone swapped out the high caps and put a low cap with the pistol.

The 10-round mags have been around since the AWB. All companies still make them as many states still exist under a 10-round limit (7 now in NY). Sometimes those still wander their way into the free states (ie, 17 round mags are legal here, but when I bought my M&P 9L I got one that came with 10-round mags because that was the only one I could find online at the time - I bought my own 17-round mags for it later).

Either way though, Sigma mags and SD mags have the same mag bodies with different baseplates. Each will fit each other though I've personally found that when the Sigma baseplate is installed the mags don't seat as readily into the SD frame.

I have a 16 round mag from the 94-04 ban. It's engraved for military and LEO use. I no longer have the Sigma so if interested , PM me an offer.
