for practice and range games, mostly bowling pins.

New brass recently emptied in vigorous enjoyment of new pistol, now seeking to refill (Starline brass) with moderate-mid range practice loads.

Have both 165 & 180 FNL and Berry's 180 plated on hand for a little variation.

From a little trade long ago, still have 140g FNL without any clear idea of where/when to use it. The original owner had bought a box & found they didn't reliably operate the slide in his own .40 S&W reloads.

You didn't tell us what gun you'll be shooting these in or what powder(s) you have on-hand to use?

In my 1076 I had so-so accuracy with Xtreme's plated 180gr HP, so I don't know how the Berry's will work in your's. Mine seems to prefer jacketed (don't they all :) ). With Nosler or Zero's 180gr JHP these three worked the best for me:

- Power Pistol @ 8.0gr = ~1190fps

- Longshot @ 9.0gr = ~1250fps

- 2400 @ 12.0gr = ~1075fps

in my 10s I use WW231, Autocomp, WST, and AA#5 for mild loadings, when I need to turn up the heat the absolutely best powder for max loadings in 10mm is AA#7

thanks for the tips;

I have these: " WW231, Autocomp, WST," plus a host of Hodgdon's other powders. Somehow around here I don't run into much AA or Power Pistol....

Have H110; 2400; gave away Blue Dot as couldn't come up with pleasant load for my own use;

Have S&W 610 shorty revolver & Sig 220-10 for platforms.

Well, you just gave away probably the single most versatile powder there is for 10mm.. Wish I could have been there ! LOL

From what you have listed, AutoComp is your best bet for what you want to do. Just go to the IMR website and you can find the appropriate data. AutoComp can duplicate the lower end 'FBI' factory loads commonly found on shelves.

In the future if you can find some Longshot, AA#7, Power Pistol, 3N37 or BE-86, they are excellent powders for midrange loads and for approaching high performance loads as well. 800-X is good also, but it does not meter well at all, so individual checking of each charge is necessary.

For midrange loads, especially with bullets lighter than 200gr, the medium burners like unique, cfe, pp, be-86, etc, work to run 180gr @ 1100fps. When you want to step up, long shot, bd, aa#9 work better.

See these once in a while: 3N37 or BE-86 but never at the time I have actual money in hand.

CFE in the 38/357/9/40 loads I tried didn't impress much.

Unique & 800x don't meter well enough for my Dillon to keep me happy.

AC seems like a decent start; I'll get back to the thread in a few days with report.

I like the Nosler data for 180 grain and Win 231/HP38. It is a mild load for 10 mm, but it is very accurate as they show.
No I don't use Nosler Bullets in 10 mm, I use similar FMJ FN. I do use Nosler in rifles.

Groo here
Many load 10mm with AA9.
It is a "little slow" but it is almost impossible to get in trouble with it.
