Interesting note:

"The Twist" (recharted at #1 in January 1962)

However, The Twist was originally released by another artist and re-recorded by Chubby Checker.

Hank Ballard & the Midnighters was the first ones to release The Twist in 1959.

I was feeling pretty good this AM - then I saw this - and realized that I recall all of them... and that was over half a century ago! Well, let me find my walker...

I got my 5% off yesterday at Publix. The sacker said I shouldn't get the 'senior citizen' discount - I didn't look Hispanic! Good grief. Then he added that I should get a 'white hair discount'...

I remember Palisades Park - & Freddy 'Boom-boom' Cannon - from those days (I lived in Bayside, LI, NY.). The Tokens, Four Seasons, etc.... wow, seems like yesterday. I don't even remember what I had for breakfast! Where'd I leave that walker... Thanks for the reminder...

I remember all of those songs.Mark Dinning[Teen Angel]was a friend of mine. His sister was one of the back up singers for the Grand 'Ole Opry.

oldfella- thanks a ton. great stuff there.

I was out of the U.S. in 1960 but I heard all of them when I came back in 1961.

First heard the Beatles on a transistor I held to my ear outside the Occidental Hotel in Brisbane, Australia.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah..."

For those who really love music, especially this era.

Recently I purchased 6 of these DVD's at amazon and gave them to some friends of mine, all baby boomers. They all loved them.

It is about the Funk Brothers, the talented musicians who played on almost every Motown recording made, but never received any type of recognition until this was produced. Some passed away before making the documentary and a few right after.

So check it out, if you really enjoy music, you definitely won't be disappointed.

Amazon.com: Standing in the Shadows of Motown: Richard 'Pistol' Allen, Jack Ashford, Bob Babbitt (II), Benny 'Papa Zita' Benjamin, Eddie 'Bongo' Brown, Bootsy Collins, Johnny Griffith, Ben Harper (II), Joe Hunter, James Jamers
