My long-time favorite musical performer. I have all of his hit albums digitized and have used them as my driving music for many years, never gotten tired of them. He made a zillion dollars for Herb Alpert.
There is a very good documentary of his career well worth watching. Sergio Mendes in the Key of Joy (2020) - IMDb It shows up on TV every so often. It is on YouTube but is not free.
Hi regarding Sergio Mendes, I submit this to my forum´s friends. It´s his first record that I´ve heard. It was about 1965 /66 and was the time of my first girlfriend so this is highly emotional to me.This was well before he went to the USA.There is a mix of brazilian tunes plus some american ones by composers like like Cole Porter and Horace Silver. It´s interesting to note there`s no drum set, just a mix of percussion instruments playing together, plus an acoustic guitar, double bass and him at the piano.
Hope the link works out.
