are a pain to find and we keep asking "when was it made" questions on this forum. (I'm sure I'm guilty of this one) So, I looked around and found the "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson" on several bookseller sites, but Barnes and Noble had it for $22 shipped. I got a discount...can't remember why but otherwise it goes for a little over $25. Still not a bad deal! Amazon wanted over $40...used.

It really is well done. I don't have that many S&W handguns but it sure is a good reference for the ones I do have.

You just got a good deal on the S&W fan's bible.

As long as there are people asking for serial number info, someone must be buying these old Smiths! I will answer their question, if I can, and do not mind it at all. I have the time and the SCSW, so I am good to go. Good buy BDH! Enjoy it. There is a world of S&W info there.

I have a Model 27-2 that I bought new around 1970. It is my favorite revolver, I also have other N's, K's and J's. The serial number of my 27 is N467XX. Can you tell me when it was manufactured?
Thanks

I've got all three editions plus the digital version of the 3rd Editon on my iPad and iPhone. It's a very good resource.

Its a clean (in the pic) 6906, should get tuesday or wednesday. Looks like a classic.

The 6906 was made over a 10 yr period - 89-99. Tritium night sights were introduced in 1992. Beyond that i dont know an exact year.

Well thanks for the info, my heart sez it lnib but I've bought some mothers and recoil spring just in case.
