Background:
Bought M&P FS 9mm 06/2013.
Group sizes at 25 yd. from rest were 8-10"
Sent back to S&W for repair.
Got pistol back with new barrel and group sizes of 6-8" @25.
Sent back to repair AGAIN...

The minute the package tracking showed as delivered, I called customer service and explained that I need to speak to a supervisor.

When I got supervisor (Nice Guy) on phone I explained situation and told him my M&P just arrived at repair center. He assured me he would track progress of my pistol from start to finish personally and make sure it was done correctly. He then explained to me how the process should work... ;)

If a pistol is sent back to S&W for repair a second time a supervisor will personally oversee the process.

When a pistol is repaired, a test target should be included with it when returned to customer. Nothing came back with mine. :eek:Supervisor is inquiring as to why. Considering after the repair, group sizes were still terrible, no wonder the tech didn't include the required test target!

S&W accuracy standards have not changed in over 30 years. Pistol should give you 3-4" groups at 25 yards.

Disclaimer: OP not responsible for deviations to the process... your mileage may vary!:)

Hope this helps!:D

They usually get it right the first time, not that that makes your experience any better. I hate when I get a new gun and it has to go back. I feel your pain.

Thanks for sharing your experience, it may help others.

S&W45Colt has it right - they usually get it right the first time. The good thing is that I am pretty picky, and have never had to send an S&W back for accuracy issues. Sorry that you had a bad experience.

I've got a 9c that isn't very accurate but is good enough for SD distances. I had been hoping to use it as a range gun but have decided to use it as a secondary carry. I picked up a m&p 9 pro to use as a 9mm range gun but haven't shot it yet, hopefully next week. If this one turns out to need work I haven't decided if I'll send it to s&w or add some aftermarket parts. Depends on the kind of issues if any that I have.

Maybe you just need more range time and practice. It's called break-in time. ...I have ZERO issues with any of my M&P's.

Disregard above post...
I posted this so others might acquire a better understanding of the S&W repair service process!
Maybe, you should read the topic again...
"Service Center Process for Accuracy Issues as explained by a supervisor."
Wasn't asking for opinions or advise! Just stating facts!

Well said RStepen!!! My response would have been the same, only not as nice and polished.

Haven't posted in a while... Love the KKM barrel. Also had to put in the apex trigger kit. groups now down to 1.5" @ 15 yards.

My M&P9 compact was made in 2010 and using Winchester white box 115 grain FMJ off a sandbag will consistently shoot into 3 inch or less groups at 25 yards. I presume mine has the longer twist rate, based on when it was produced. Don't know why some shoot tight groups and others don't, with the same specs and the shooter doing his part.
