Dave Sevigny announced on his Facebook page that he was leaving Glock. In my opinion he was the face of Glock. He states he will continue competitive shooting. Stay tuned, more to this story, I'm sure. This is a shocker for me.

Here is the link to Dave's page.

WOW!! Never crossed my mind that this would happen!?! I wonder where he is going to go to now?

I thought R. Lee Ermey was the "face" of Glock???:D:confused::D

I'm only half joking...

Watching Shooting USA yesterday, it was clear to see the S&W team is cleaning up the competitions right now. Wonder where Sevigny will go?

These guys are ALL for sale. He's been touting Glock for so long, and now he's gonna be paid to shill for someone else. Just goes to show you you can't take their opinion seriously. If Ruger paid Miculeck enough, he's be shooting Rugers. It's not the guns that nakes these guys great. Put a Lorcin in Sevigny's hands and he'd still dazzle you with it.

And S&W has been HEAVY in advertising on those shows. most of the guys are shooting M&P's now.

I had a Senior Chief in the USN like that. Guys would go up to the line and fail their pistol qual. You would here crying about how the gun is off. He would clear the line and proceed to tear out the center of the target and tell the guy to get out. Some guys are just good at shooting anything in their hand.

The Glock rep is suffering with all the 3 and 4 Gen issues and the way they are not handling them. Some PD's are dumping just purchased Glocks for M&P's.

Heck if they paid me enough, I'd tout them too, but that doesn't mean you can't take Mr. Miculeck's opinion about S&W's seriously.

I remember when he first burst on the national scene shooting an 8 & 3/8" Model 27 with a target trigger, and showing those auto guys how to do it! He wasn't paid by S&W then, and it really made us old school S&W revolver guys stand a little taller. Even if we can't shoot like him :o

WHATTT? These guys get paid?

The gal (I think her name is Julie) shooting for the S&W team was a big time Glock sponsor shooter before Smith. They are athletes. Show them some big money, and they'll show you how good their product gun can shoot.

Here's a few more revelations:

Michael Jordan REALLY doesn't require Hanes underwear to be comfortable.

Tiger Woods REALLY doesn't need the Mach 3 razor to get a close shave, the Tag Hauer watch to tell time, or Nike cleats to get good traction on the course.

(Thread drift follows): It does appear that Tiger really DID need shallow, gratuitous sex. He sleeps around, he's the World's Greatest Golfer. He goes through sex rehab and he is now a mere mortal.
I wonder if he could sell THAT line of thinking to the Ex?

Just a point for perspective, from someone who knows and has shot with both men named...

Dave Sevigny bought Glocks out of his own pocket and shot his way to titles with them before Glock USA ever heard of him and made him an offer, and Jerry Miculek bought S&W's out of his own pocket and shot his way to fame with them before S&W ever reached out and made him an offer to shoot on the company team.

I wear a TAG-Heuer, and was unhappy that they supported Woods. They withdrew that sponsorship recently, I think this week. Saw it on the Net.

EXCELLENT point--I believe Dave S. will be shooting at the big "Steel Challenge" Match out in Kalifornia soon, and I'd bet money he'll STILL be shooting his GLOCKs. Paulie686.

I'm sure they bought the guns because they are a quality product, but competitive shooters are no different than athletes. Tiger Woods might REALLY like Reebock, but he wouldn't be caught dead wearing anything other than Nike in public. I guy who plays for the Yankees can find himself wearing a Red Sox uniform next season if the Sox pays him better. Then there's no allegiance to the Yankees anymore.

Nice to see you on here, Mr. Ayoob. I'm a fan.

Only if he hasn't signed with another manufacturer by then. S&W would not allow him to shoot a Glock at a public match if he's their new guy.

How else?
They are not going to hire somebody and teach him how to shoot their product.

I would hope that D. Sevigny had something lined up that paid better or was more interesting before he left Glock.
It is easier to find a job while you still have a job.

He should start shooting a revolver. Most revolver competitors are using revolvers with actions that are so light that it no longer feels like shooting a revolver. I think he could transition easily and win at the top level. Miculek, despite his numerous speed shooting records which will probably never be beaten, has been vulnerable lately in the matches. I think that Sevigny could pull it off and I'd love to see him do it as an "afterthought" without any support whatsoever from S&W. If I'm not mistaken, Leatham once finished second OVERALL at the IRC with an iron sighted revolver, beating every open shooter except Miculek. That is an absolutely stunning accomplishment and Sevigny is talented enough that he could do the same.

Not so fast. At one time there was some type law that said the person hawking the product had to use and think the product is as good as they claim. A couple of celebrities got heavily fined because they did not use or believe in the product they advertised and only did the ads for the money.

I have never believed in Glocks (own a few though), Rugers (own a couple) or Taurus. I believe in Colt as well as S&W and would not do a commercial for any of the others no matter how much they were to offer me. More money will not make me like the product.
