Sgt. Mike Viet Nam Humor

Since that is in French IndoChina, the conversation should be in French.

Oh Dieu, Quelle est cette puantuer?

Épouvantable eaux d'égout?

Picked these and another yesterday. Know a guy that has the local antique/ collectables/ junk shop. Has boxes of more books so going by today to check on the rest. The “ Life in Vietnam” is Feb. 68 and we laughed at most ads when it went to VFW yesterday. Has ads for all the well known hotels and restaurants in Saigon. Falstaff beer ad is back cover, lol.

Sometimes we thought the same thing when we received a bird from another squadron or a sister service..........

Back in the 1980's, when I was with the 282nd Avn. Co. (Black Cats), we were the first Reserve unit to get UH-60 Blackhawks. Our ships were coming from the 101st and 82nd and they were not giving up their best stuff. We would get them in top shape because we had some of the best maintenance folks around. Most of them were veterans of the Vietnam war and worked full time for the contractors at Ft. Rucker.

We received a bird from the Navy once. Before the chocks were in place the Plane Captains were call for QA (Qualitiy Assurance) to come out and look at the bird. Next the Aircraft Maintenance Officer (AMO) was called out to the bird. Then the CO was called out. He called the Group CO & AMO out. Within a half and hour the Wing CG (Commanding General) and Wing AMO were there. The Navy crew were told not to leave the area. Our inspectors went over the plane and found around 150 discrepencies with 30 being Safety Of Flight. The Wing CG called the Navy Admiral where the bird came from. It was decided that they would take the bird back. The Navy crew kept telling us it was the best bird that they had...........

Whenever a carrier was returning to the states, we always got the best of the bad planes from the Navy.
Oh the fun we had.
