CNN ran this byline all day today:

"Black teenager fatally shot in head by police."

Of course, nothing in that byline says anything about the cop being shot at 3 times and firing in self defense. Shame on CNN for running a headline that it darn well knows could incite a riot. But I guess that's one way to get some sensational burning and looting footage.

Twisted my ankle the other day. Should be out bow hunting, but stuck sitting around for a couple days. Watched CNN, FOX, and MSNBC news for a couple hours today. Now I remember why I don't watch the news anymore. Sensationalism and ratings. What happened to reporting the facts?

If I had the money my TV would have holes in it while watching CNN. Would love to have 10 seconds to do a back of the head slap (aka Gibbs) on the whole staff of reporters. Speaking of CNN, where did that moron Jay Carney go? Haven't seen him after his deal with McCain. Hope they put him in the mail room.

It really has nothing to do with reporting facts, or 'journalism,' it just has to do with ad revenue and the ratings that support the pricing of the ads. People really need to understand this fact, and respond accordingly.

If you want the truth, don't expect to get it from mainline media. None of them are worth watching. They're more interested in revenue than research, facts, and unbiased journalism. Each network has its own political agenda to cram down our throats, and that includes FOX.

Seems like CNN is enhancing racial strife for the purpose of ratings.

They are pretty inflammatory when they hide the fact that the BG was shooting at the cop when the cop shot back.

Then they headline BG's mom who claims BG wasn't armed (mom wasn't there).

They are equally divisive when they give headline space to claims of racial disparity in treating Ebola victims. I suspect the medical care the gentleman received cost the county many hundreds of thousands of dollars.

They seem to be wed to the last minute of film of a guy who refuses, for 13 minutes, to obey the lawful order of LEOs to get out of a car.

I'm concerned.

This is what gets me.

If you listen to the DNC propoganda outlets (MSDNC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, etc...) a VAST majority of Americans agree with the drivel they spew 24-7.

Yet, Fox kills them in the ratings?

If that many people have partaken of the socialist Kool Aid, why arn't the MSM's rating through the roof?

Local news

Howdy,
Local news reports this guy was on house arrest for gun crime, stolen car and pursuit. Bail at $30,000.00 was deemed harsh and reduced to $3,00.00.
Looks like he ditched his bracelet to go get a hoagie.
The inmates are running the asylum, better known as St. Louis.
My Brother in law is working right in the middle of this mess and I worry about him. He can't go about armed at work and anything you have in a car is subject to theft.
The big thing seems to be "Restraint". All the local leaders are taking credit and giving the officers credit for such restraint while the protesters ignore their authority, smash up the cop cars, intimidate the innocent and loot and burn. I don't know why we call them leaders as no one is displaying any leadership.
Thanks for noticing Sip, shame on CNN.
St. Louis deserves better.
Thanks
Mike

Actually, Fox doesn't kill them in the ratings. For news - not including talking heads - they average about 1.3 - 2.3 Million viewers. CNN about 440,000.

Cable News Ratings for Tuesday, October 7, 2014 - Ratings | TVbytheNumbers.Zap2it.com

But then you go to NETWORK news...ABC 8.4 Million, NBC 8.2 Million, CBS 6.6 Million.

Even the top dog at Fox - BillO brings in 3 Million per show.

The Founding Fathers knew the importance of a Free Press.
They knew it was a powerful weapon to defend against corruption, to keep those in power in check, and to distribute information.
They knew that it was so important that they specifically wrote it into the Constitution.

It's a shame that those in the media don't respect that.

It's about ad revenue. The junk they pedal as news is nothing but a generator for their agenda - whatever that is. I stopped watching all that garbage along time ago.

It has gotten so bad that I watch the commercials to see what companies are promoting such biases. My family's purchases are often based on which companies support media corruption and which don't. Sometimes it is a tough sell to the rest of the family, but ultimately the pocketbook is our only defense.

It is a sad state of affairs.

Right on, chum! Who cares that bank robbery is immoral and endangers the public. We need to understand that it's just about the revenue, right?

I feel that journalism should be a more honorable profession, and has a duty to report the facts and not to deliberately inflame public opinion to generate riots that they can cover to enhance ratings and to advance their liberal causes.

I think that all the major networks should be sued or criminally prosecuted when their coverage is designed to suppress the truth to ruin reputations and to cause unrest.

And I think they owe the nation both sides of a controversial story. But I've quit believing in Santa and the tooth fairy, too.

Teddy Roosevelt said that public office is a public trust. Being the news media ought to be a public trust. But it isn't.
