That’s what the kid in the movie said, anyway. In 1969 I was 12 and saw “Once Upon A Time In The West” and Henry Fonda as “Frank” made a huge impression with his shiny long barreled Colt. Two years later I saw “Shane” with his similar gun for the first time. I liked that version of the Colt ever since and now have three. That’s a ‘58 .45 on the left, a 1984 cased .44-40, and a 70s Centennial .44-40 with a spare .44 Special cylinder. The .44s are blackpowder frames withe barrels marked “Colt Frontier Sixshooter”. Frank and Shane sure cost me some bucks over the years.

Wish I kept the Colts I had in 70s. Most were from 60s and early 70s except for a pair of Bisleys 44/40. When teenager had to have the long barrels. Colt or S&Ws, then went 5.5”-6.5” guns. Now have only one Colt SAA that is 5.5” .45, 2nd Gen. Would actually like a 4.75” but ain’t laying out the long green necessary to purchase one.
