I'm glad to see we have a concerned Sheriff,he's always been a stand up guy.

In the wake of the mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, Delaware County's Sheriff has added his voice to the chorus calling for licensed gun owners who are proficient in their use to carry their weapons.

Sheriff Thomas Mills shared these thoughts days after Ulster County Sheriff Paul Van Blarcum urged those already licensed to carry their firearm. Mills is asking police to have their weapon on them, even when off-duty. Mills says if you have the means to protect yourself and others, do so.

Add Lewis County Sheriff Mike Carpinelli to the list of sheriffs reminding and encouraging licensed gun owners who can carry, to do so.

Too bad the Wayne County NY Sheriff didn't get on board. He released typical political drivel that if you had a permit you already could carry, and just having a gun won't solve every problem. Then he said he does encourage HIS people to carry off duty. Really disappointing.

What a shame that it took another terrorist act for them to make that proclamation

The Wayne County NY Sheriff is correct. Just having a gun won't solve every problem, but it can solve some important problems. I don't leave my house unless I am with some friends; Mr. Browning or Mr. Smith & Mr. Wesson. If I were to get a flat tire on my car, these guys won't be of much help. Certain other problems, they are there for me. The life they save may be mine.
