I have a 2.0 and haven’t really carried it much and stuck with my G19 due to the fact of the grip texture. It’s fine to shoot but a bit too much for carry without a under shirt or my t shirt tucked in.

Have any of you made the switch/potential upgrade? I haven’t found one in person but it looks like the grip texture isn’t as agressive. Can you use your current 2.0 holsters?

I don’t really need one but is it worth switching over to the plus?

Thanks guys

I have the first shield and the Plus. I don't go anywhere without the plus now. For me it hits all the check marks for a CC gun. Plus it fits all my first gen holsters. The grip feels like S&W came to my house and measured my hand and built the grip just for me. Naturally points where I am looking. The only other guns that have felt that nice are the CZ-75's and there clones. Plus 14 rounds. I am still waiting for Magnuts to release their extensions.

If you can view reruns of American Rifleman on Outdoor Channel (on demand, etc.), AR did a piece on the new Shield Plus, going over all the changes, including a less aggressive grip texture. It's worth trying to view it.

Thanks for the input!

I'm not sure I understand the above posts?? I have a Shield 2 and a Plus.
The 2's texture is fairly mild. Not much different then the original Shield I gave to my sister. On the other hand the Shield Plus has a very aggressive texture.

The Plus has replaced my 2 for daily carry. But I would need a T shirt to protect my skin in an IWB holster. I carry it outside my waist band and have no problems.

If all that’s bothering you is course texture buy a rubber sleeve to slip on.

I use them on both Shields(2.0 and original)to thicken grip a bit

Put a Talon Grip on it, $19.95. I have used them for years on my 1.0 Shield. I like the rubberized version. They last a long time before needing replacement.

I bought a Hogue but that thing is impossible to put on.

I like the 2.0 grip. I used to buy the sandpaper grips from talon for all my pistols and stick them on with the hairdryer technique. Holds well in my hand. I guess I am in the minority?
Guess everyone prefers the 1.0 grips are slippery?

I have the 2.0. Really liked the grip texture except next to bare skin. The solution? Some 220 grit sandpaper rubbed on the left grip panel for 2-3 minutes. Problem solved.

I put one on my Shield Plus. It wasn't easy. I had one on my Gen 1 Shield. It made that grip near perfect. It makes the grip a bit thick on the Shield Plus. It's a tenth of an inch thicker than the grip on my full size is 2.0 M&P 9. I might remove it.

Yep, On my Shield, Shield 2.0 and Shield Plus - I put a Hogue Jr on all of them. The sides of the 2.0 and Plus are both too rough to wear against my side with no shirt in between. The rubber grip solves that issue.

It is easy... Use the tried and true internet method...

Boil a pot of water. Once it is boiling - place the Hogue grip in the boiling water. Use a spoon or something to hold it under the surface.

Leave it in for 60 seconds. Then, remove it and briefly dry it.

Then, install. It's not hard at all. It stretches more when how. Then, when it cools, it tightens up a bit.

I use the Hogue Jr on double stack guns. Hardest one to get it on was the P99, as the magwell is a little wider at the end. My Hk P2000 has one. My PX4 has one.

Those are doublestacks, and they ARE hard to get the grip on. The Shield - that was easy. Even the Shield Plus only took me a few minutes to get the grip on.
