shield 1.0 vs 2.0

Well, yes, most prefer the 2.0, but don't turn down a 1.0 if you can get one. Finding any handgun for sale is becoming difficult.
You can add some grip tape like the Talon to a 1.0. like I did to my .40.

The couples 1.0s in 9mm I owned had decent triggers too, certainly good enough for the ranges Shields are intended for.
I've had a couple 2.0s (fullsize) that had crappy triggers, and they needed some help from Apex, so don't buy into the hype that 2.0s are the end all.
Many here are still quite satisfied with their 1.0 Shields.

I agree. My 1.0 in .45 has a good trigger and I shoot it well. I haven’t tried the 2.0 but since it’s not a target gun, I’m very satisfied with what I have.

NO! But it is a personal preference of the owner.
Many don’t like the increased texture of the 2.0 grip.
There have been many post on this forum dealing with the 1.0 vs 2.0
subject. You may want to look them over.
Bottom line is you need to handle both guns to form your own opinion.
You can pick up a 1.0 for a lot less money than the 2.0.
If your going to add a Talon grip as sandog did then maybe it’s a mute
point.
Some have no issues with the 1.0 trigger, some do. Again, it’s personal
preference. JMO

Be SAFE and shoot Often!

About the only real gripe I've heard over the two are about the grip texture. My Shield 45 (right after they came out) already came with the 2.0 textured grip, along with the cut-outs on the front of the slide. Talked to a deputy just the other day about it. He stated they carry the 1.0 in the 40 and while he liked it, the grip was slick as s++t. He put some type of gripper on it but still prefers the 2.0 texture.

As always, get what you like, YMMV...

I wouldn't give up my gen 1 Shield (9 or 40) just to move to a 2.0 version. My gen 1s have been reliable, dependable and accurate. The triggers are fine to me, I see no reason to spend money on "upgrades" for a self defense pistol that already works as it should. I have a Shield 45 from when they were first released. I like the size and wish the 9 & 40 came in the same size.

I recently picked up a 2.0 compact w/4" barrel. Has a nice trigger and I like the grip texture for shooting, not sure how it will carry and won't know until I get more rounds downrange to confirm reliability/dependability. All my gen 1 M&Ps-Full Size and Compacts have run flawlessly, so that's what I'll be comparing the 2.0 to.

Everyone is different and expects different things from their firearms. I don't compare my M&Ps to a 1911 or any other target quality handgun. But my M&Ps work for me and that's all that matters to me! :-)

I purchased a 1.0 Shield early on when they were a whole lot more money. I paid way too much for it at the time. I then had a trigger job done and put I-Dot sights on it. I later added a Talon Grip and eventually an Apex duty/carry kit. Now I have so much in it that I will have to be buried with it. The 1.0 is just fine and I would argue that mine is now much better than a 2.0 with the changes that I have made to it.

In my opinion the 1.0 trigger is nearly perfect for its application. It is too heavy for a target gun but in the “oh sh@@ get away from me” moment it’s designed for I don’t think anyone will ever notice the extra lb of pull weight. That heavier trigger is nice piece of mind when you’re easing the gun back into your appendix holster. The 2.0 grip makes it nice at the range but has mixed reviews in ccw use. I have one of each and I would be happy with either.

I had a 1.0 Shield 9 (PC) but would not consider a 2.0 due to that aggressive grip. At least the models I handled, I did not care at all for that texture. Yes it can be wrapped, which I have done on some of my handguns if I wanted a thicker grip. Haven't had to wrap due to texture though.
I did buy an EZ Shield 9 which is part of the 2.0 line but has different mechanics, milder texture, etc so likely not part of the usual 1.0 vs 2.0 discussions

:( I feel like a loser.

I can barely tell the difference, but the 1.0 might be a bit heavier, or maybe a tad difference in balance.

The possibility that any/either model you find has been shot a minimum number of times is pretty good, (NIB of course), and they will hold up to quite a bit of use. Looking around in the shops locally, they are a bit scarce, so a good price in good condition is a buy for them without. ;)

Helpful thread. I have. 1.0 with Extended(10) mags, he night sights, Talon Pro grip and TLR6. I’ve been thinking about a 2.0 for the trigger or a p365 for capacity. I’d prefer to stay with S&W, but it sounds like the 2.0 isn’t going to be that much better. Likely will keep what I have. I am intrigued though by the Shield 4” with Optic, probably helpful to my ageing eyes. Any thoughts on that one?

In my area the price for the 1.0 and 2.0 Performance Center are about the same. Standard the 1.0 is cheaper unless you find the 2.0 for sale online when they run a special. Bought my dad a 2.0 for $325.00 + $15.00 to ship and FFL $15.00 about three months ago LockednLoaded but he took them off sale last week.

The 4" is a dandy shooter but I don't have the optics. At 61 I still have Eagle eyes...Bald Eagle :D

I don't tell people what to buy but I can tell you within the past 6 months I've owned the Hellcat, P365 and the Glock 43X. Sold all three two weeks ago and purchased a Shield 2.0 and Shield 2.0 Performance Center and I'll never stray again and my 1.0's were getting lonely.
I could NOT shoot not one of them worth a dime. Took my Shield to the range and 100 rounds center mass. The Glock right/low right no mater what. P365 was too small and I owned the Hellcat for about 3 months and it spent 2 1/2 months at SA. I had the striker break 2 times. Once was my fault as they told me you have to dry fire with snap caps. The 2nd time they said the same thing and I sent them a video of my shooting ammo at the range when the striker broke and then the trigger got stuck and you could not pull it to the rear or push it to the front.
Sold it to a gunsmith. Wouldn't trust it with my life or the life of anyone else.

Funny but I have tried or getting ready to try all 3 you mentioned. I shot the Glock low also no matter what I tried, did not care for the sights on the Sig (365 or 365 XL), waiting on delivery of the Hellcat. I currently use a PPS M2 (80%) of the time but my Shields are always available. No matter how many EDC's I run through the Shields always stick.

Good luck with the Hellcat. Just remember to use snap caps if you want to dry fire and if the striker breaks Springfield Armory is still going to blame you for it. lol
Also when you go to shoot it make sure you put even pressure on the trigger or it won't fire. They claim if you put too much pressure on one side of the trigger it sticks because the trigger blade safety won't pull back and hangs.
I watched YouTube videos and could make mine do it and to me that's a negative feature not a positive one.
