Hi all. First post. Ordered a 9mm Shield and while waiting for it's arrival at the local dealer, I started some research on it. I will be shooting Speer 147gr, +P ammo. This is what is issued and what I must use. I read several posts regarding 9mm +P and the Shield. I know what the manual says regarding as well. I was just wondering if the 9mm and the .40 cal Shield are built on the same frame. The dimensions on their website show them to be identical. I also wonder how they can be identical if the .40 cal obviously requires a larger barrel for starters.
If a .40 cal generates more chamber pressure than a 9mm, and assuming the guns are the same size, wouldn't the 9mm be able to take the "abuse" of a steady diet of the +P round if it's twin brother, the .40 cal, is taking the same if not more pressure generated from the .40?
I hope this hasn't been addressed already, I did utilize the search button and have read dozens and dozens of posts by just googling +P and Smith and Wesson Shield but nothing much about the similiarities of the two.
