Shield Plus Carry Comp and Holosun EPS Carry Mounting Gap Question

I recently picked up a Holosun EPS Carry for my Shield Plus Carry Comp and ran into a fitment issue that I could use some help with.

Direct Mounting:

I initially assumed the factory optic cut was compatible with the Holosun K footprint for a direct mount.

However, when I placed the EPS Carry directly onto the slide, I noticed:
  • The posts on the slide don’t fully engage with the optic.
  • There’s a noticeable gap between the optic and the slide.
  • The optic doesn’t seat snugly and can shift side-to-side — it feels like the post holes on the EPS Carry are too small for the slide’s posts, despite the advertised footprint match.

DPP Plate:

I also tried using a DPP mounting plate to solve the issue. Fitment onto the posts is much better — the plate stays secure and doesn’t move laterally. However, there’s still a visible gap between the plate and the slide.

Other Notes:

  • The extractor pin is flush with the slide, so I’ve ruled that out as the cause of the gap.
Questions:
  • Is the gap when using the DPP plate considered normal or acceptable?
  • Has anyone else experienced this with the EPS Carry on a Shield Plus Comp?
  • Are there better mounting solutions or adjustments I should try?

Any guidance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I can't say for sure whether yours is afflicted, but the gap with the DPP plate looks like your cut has the same negative cant that a lot of the RMSc cuts had. I wasn't able to zero an EPS Carry because of this, so I sent my slide to Nameless Armament to get leveled and modified to Holosun K spec.

Your front lugs look like they might be to the taller RMSc spec rather than the shorter Holosun K spec. That, or they're oversized in diameter.

You might be able to get it to work with the DPP plate, but the best solution is probably machining the optics cut to level it and shorten the posts. I would contact S&W customer service, and if they don't take responsibility, have Nameless Armament fix it.

Thanks for the reply! This is super helpful. Yeah I think I'm going to just get the pocket leveled like you said. It's probably the best long term solution rather than trying to get the plate to work.
