Just picked up a Shield Plus Carry Comp. What red/green dot is everyone use for this?

I use holosun for my shield plus which does require a plate. Just setup a second shield plus with a Cyelee CAT-G Pro which was a direct mount. I got the going green rebate and a viridian rfx15 is on the way. It’s a direct mount as well. RMSc or jpoint is the shield plus and carry comp mount.

I have the Ceylee Cat Pro (red) on mine. It’s perfect. I did put the Veridian RFX free “rebate” dot on mine.. just meh, wasn’t feeling the green dot.. didn’t feel like it did anything better than the Ceylee, in terms of glass or dot quality.

I may, one day, switch to the Holosun EPS carry red. It is, by far, the cleanest, clearest looking glass on an RMSc footprint I’ve seen. But that the price difference, I’m good with the Cat pro x for a while.

I've got a CT RAD Micro green dot on my Shield Plus Carry Comp. It's a direct mount, no plate required, comes with correct screws, co-witnesses, and won't break the bank (got it for $139 on Amazon). The target pic is the zero at 7 yards (supported).

I have the Mecanik M01 optic that came with my Canik MC9 before I traded it because it wouldn't feed even after I sent it back once. It seems a fine optic, I like the auto-brightness. but I hold no issusion that it's a Trijicon stand-in in terms of reliability. No plate required, it's an RMS-C.

On a similar topic, does anyone buy RMS optics or is it just a mounting standard now?

No experience with Canik, though hear they're decent.

Mounting standards? I don't know if there really is one, I was looking for an RMSc footprint 3 moa green dot and had limited options (Cyelee, Gideon and Viridian came up). Certainly, could have put a plate in and the DPP I'm using on the Shield Plus with the Holosun 507k is great but I was hoping to avoid a plate.

I'm thinking the 2 moa is not big enough for my eye sight and was hoping the 3 moa might help. Maybe a fools errand.

That is how I feel about my EPS Carry 6 MOA. Glass quality is notably better than my older Holosun optics when viewed side-by-side (507Cs, 507K, 509 ACSS), and the dot is probably as sharp as my astigmatism allows. It's not even functionally 3x as big as most 2 MOA dot only reticles for me, because the distortion I get with those functionally makes the dots larger.

It certainly wasn't cheap, but the EPS line does seem to have a better track record for holding up to handgun recoil cycles better than the even more expensive ACRO P-2.

Downside was that my Shield Plus factory optics cut had the dreaded negative forward cant, so I couldn't zero it without Nameless Armament leveling the cut and deleting the back posts while they're at it. They posted an Instagram video a bit ago showing that S&W is still machining at least some Shield optics cuts with the negative cant.

Ran the new Shield plus with the Cyelee optic and had trouble zero'ing at 25 yards (likely me as I forgot my boresight). Zero'ed at 7yds and ran 300 rounds with no issues. I'll clean it then boresight the optic to either 10 or 15 yards then run it at my next range trip and see. So far I haven't encountered the negative cant issue with optics.

The EPS does look great, my astigmatism seems to allow for the 2 and 3 moa along with the 32 moa circle but have moved away from using the circle.

I had a different issue.. it seems the Ceylee AND Holoson for direct fit aren’t “quite” snug.
On my Cat Pro, since….it is a cheap optic, I sanded the front of the sight (Can’t see it) and hogged out the front bosses to get a better snap on the lugs. There was a noticeable gap between the optic and the slide. After doing a little garage mechanic work, the fit is MUCH better, and there is only the tiniest amount of gap.

I could be wrong, and a simple google search could tell me, but I believe that my Shield was cut for Holosun K style footprint, no rear lugs, just front. I don’t seem to have the negative forward cant on mine, I was able to zero at 10 yards just fine and with plenty more adjustment available.

As I posted elsewhere, at my LGS, a guy pulled a brand new shield plus comp out of the showcase, and a new EPS carry out of the box and just laid it on top the pistol after removing the plate. He didn’t screw it down. You could see that same gap between the EPS as the cat pro before I modded it.

No rear lugs is indeed the Holosun K cut.

My Shield Plus exhibited the same light/air gap when i tried RMSc-to-K adapter plates (both Holosun and DPP brand), and that's another thing that Nameless fixed when they leveled the cut. I didn't know if that was still happening with the updated Holosun K cut versions, but like the negative cant, I guess it's still an issue.

I like the Holosuns. If the K series are as tough as the bigger Holosuns you wouldn't believe the abuse/damage they can take and still work. Take a look at the review done by Sage Dynamics a few years back. It used to be on You Tube.

I removed the rear posts and slightly shortened the front posts to put a Holosun on my first Sheild Plus 3.1" slide. I bought a couple stripped Shield OR 4" slides and built them up with Holosuns, too. Bought the DPP adaptor plates off Amazon (back then they put two in the box for $30 and 3 screws - who knows why they put three screws in the box with two plates).

I did try an EPS Carry on the 3.1" slide and it zeroed but was at the end of it's adjustment range while moving the shot group to the POA. Took it off and put it on another pistol and went back to the K series.

OP, when it comes to dots there are a couple things that are more individual to the shooter than who makes it or how much it costs. One is dot color. Some people see green better than red. The second one, for me, is I see the larger (4 to 6 MOA) dots much clearer than the smaller (2 MOA) dots. I'm not sure why but I wonder if it's because I can turn down the illumination setting and still see the dot just fine when using the larger dots. Only an issue if you have astigmatism but the dots can be more of a blurry smear than a dot if your eyes are older with that issue.
