SHIELD PLUS HELP

hey y’all i’m in mass and just purchased a shield plus but for some reason i have to slam mag in order for it to fit… it’s a 10 rd and doesn’t fit flush of a regular push.. help?

Brand new mags may need a little help if you're loading it under a closed slide (loaded chamber as well).

I've used the same two mags for EDC and even those after quite a while need a bit of a slap.

mmmm okay it’s normal then. no worries on a full mag gotta slap a little hard but on a empty mag and empty barrel slides right in

Load your mag with an open slide and it should go in with normal insert pressure..
release slide to load one in the chamber if you carry that way.
add a round to the mag to fill it. You may now have to slam it in to seat.
Mine did that

That was my experience with two Shield Plus's. My very first Shield Plus mags are what I carry, pinky extenders on both.

also if its new mag and fully loaded it will be stiff maybe not slam but a good push

I had the same issues with mine. I use only the 10 round mags and load them into the pistol with the slide open. I slingshot the slide closed and carry with 1 chambered and 9 in the mag.

I own two Shield Plus models and the above is how I load the mags and gun. In fact, this is how I load all my smaller handguns like my various Sig P365s and others. That said, I have never used the 10-round magazines in my Shield Plus handguns, only the 13 and 15-round magazines.

Yes, it's completely normal with full magazines. I fully load my magazines and let them sit...the springs will slowly relax a little and magazine insertion will become easier over time. Even using an UPLULA loader it's a little difficult to completely load the magazines for a while because the springs are so stiff! Patience, and you'll be fine. Keep shooting!

Most people who have been in the Army or at war habitually smack any weapon that has a magazine. It's part of the correct way of loading a weapon. To just push it in is asking for trouble. With say a model 39 if you don't smack it when inserting the mag it can produce a poor cartridge insertion and drag the next round halfway out for a jam waiting to happen. Go ahead and smack it it doesn't damaged the weapon. A 41 you might not be as vigorous because you don't need to be.

I've loaded my 13 round mags with 12 rds. Load one from a mag, remove mag, load another round into the mag for 12+1 in the gun and 12 in the reload opposite the holster side.

I'd read reports here where the 13 rd base plates can leave the mags unexpectedly, that the 13th round can cause a failure to feed on the second round often enough and because this is the gun I want to carry, it's easier to keep 12 in the 13 rd mags. Easier to secure the mag into the pistol, easier on the mag spring, easier on the loading of said mags etc.

I can live with -1 in the mags just fine
