Shield

They say there is no such thing as a stupid question. So if you read a number of the posts, you will find many others that have asked the same question. You will also see posts of Shields available at _______ ________. It can be a matter of luck. I called ten gun shops and the last one said I have one coming in in three days. The other shops basically laughed at me. That was back in May.

Been waiting 2 months to get one. Got a call from the gun shop yesterday that they had mine, so I going to pick it up today. They had a waiting list of about 40 people for each caliber the last time I talked to them. Another shop had about 180 people waiting.
My best advice is get on a list at some shop or shops and settle in for a wait.

This might be a stupid question: does anyone know how/where to get an m&p shield 9mm these days?

If you are willing to pay $150 over retail you can pick up a Shield 9mm on gunbroker.com

They say a gun is worth what people are willing to pay and about $600 is what it is worth for instant gratification.

That is partly why our country is in a financial mess. People are not willing to wait for anything and my guess a lot of those $600 Shields are purchased on credit with interest.

Be patient and you will buy for $100 below retail and own the gun rather than visa own you.

Actually, if you are not eligible for a LEO discount, the best price I have seen for a Shield is $ 50 below list, or $ 399.

I feel really lucky. I had been trying to decide on an XDS or the Shield in 9mm. I went by a local gun store to just look at some guns, and they happen to have a Shield. It was my first time holding one in my hands, and I fell in love with it right away. I was going to wait until I had all the cash saved up to purchase my new firearm. I have paid off my credit card and did not intend to purchase anything on it. I ask the guy how often he had the Shields, and he said this was the first one he has had in 4 months. He said they sell usually within 2 hours of him putting it out on display. I hated to do it but I pulled out the plastic. I already had about half saved up. I will just apply that to the card and I will have it paid back next month. Anyway, I am just getting back into firearms, after about 20 years. I can't wait to shoot this baby!

You are probably correct. I forgot you must be law enforcement to take $100 off retail. Still we are talking $200 difference or about a case of 9mm.

Gunbroker makes one broke.

If you want a Shield you have to make a project out of it Every time I was by a gun shop I would check and three times a day I would check Buds. I had passed up a .40 shield on Buds hoping for a 9mm. Well one morning there it was on Buds. I hit buy so fast sure it would be gone before I could finish the order. Well It was gone and I got a e-mail from Buds telling me sorry. A little later another mail came from Buds saying another one just came in and I could have that one. Three days later I picked it up at my dealer. It was sure worth the work I put into getting one.

I waited seven months for mine, but to be fair, I didn't try as hard to find one as others have. I placed an order at my local gun shop and waited. When it finally did come in, I only paid $389 for it. They do say patience is a virtue.
