Ship date model 617-1

Can anyone tell me the ship date of a Model 617-1 with serial #CBW3943? The spec order number on the box is 7086. The standards catalog does not seem to include this serial number. Thanks

Thank you for replying. What I don't understand is why this serial number CBW3943 does not show in the S&W standards catalog. Somewhere in the standards catalog it explains that the spec order number (Julian date) represents the manufacture date which may or may not be the ship date. I'm curious about why this serial number doesn't show in the standards catalog. Any ideas? Thanks again for your reply.

Because there are thousands of possible three letter combinations and the book only has room for a few hundred (if that many). Since the serial numbers were used in an alphabetical order you are supposed to extrapolate your date from the dates they do give you. You can usually narrow it down to within a month or two one way or the other.
