I have seen this discussed a good bit on this forum, but never seen the solution. Well, here it is; but, remember, everybody is different! A bit over 2 weeks after surgery. Vision is 20-20 uncorrected for long range sight. Can't read and sure can't see the iron sights on a handgun. Lens of 2.50 - 2.75 allows close in reading, but, of course, can't see far away and sure can't see iron sights. . .a very limited-use corrective lens. Lens of 2.00 is great for most things and 20-20 for using the computer. This is the one the doctor recommended, and does allow some reading and some distance vision. Iron sights are somewhat clear. So, I got to thinking about lowering the correction to attain a happy medium for shooting a handgun. Went and bought a pair of 1.50 glasses at the drug store today and was amazed. Iron sights are perfectly clear and long-distance vision is a good 20-40. All that translates into seeing the sights and seeing the target. Anyway, if you are having a problem with your vision after cataract surgery, the solution for me was to lower the correction below doctor recommended. . .from 2.00 to 1.50 for shooting and hunting with iron sights. Having 20-20 uncorrected vision for long distance after surgery is wonderful, but figuring out how to see things close to your face takes some time and experimentation. Hope this works for somebody besides me.

I had two cats removed a few years ago. 20-20 without glasses

I do need readers for up close work.. As a welder I also use cheaters in my hood and cutting goggles, been wearing glasses since i was 5 years old.

Had my doc give me a pair of normal looking Bifocals with the line showing so I know exactly what glass I'm looking through. (very important to me) They tried for 20 years to sell me the invisible lens, told me your insurance will cover. I just did not want them and proceeded to prove it out I was right!

I now wear them (the new glasses) all day with no problem and my shooting has not been a problem. Just old age in general is cutting into my score.:D

I had the cataract surgery in 2009 after noticing I couldn't see to drive at night any more. That's when the eye doc informed me I had cataracts and Medicare pays for the surgery.

For the first time since I was about 7 yo I can see long distance. I have to use readers at home. But, as an active shooter/competitor I have full size glasses with the no-line reader prescription at the low level. I use these glasses as my safety eye cover also.

I had mine done 4 yrs ago, no problem shooting, for reading and the computer I use 1.25 and for close up tying flies etc I use 2.0.

Had both eyes done within the last 4 years. I still wear bifocal glasses - mild correction for distance, more correction for close up. No problem in shooting.

I bought some bifocal sun glasses from readers.com for about 20 bucks.

I need readers for the tv guide and PC but.......

I could not get over being able to see the wrinkes and high and low spots
on the yellow front sight of my C9 pistol !!

It even gets better over time.

When you said wrinkles I thought you were going to say when you look in the mirror.[emoji1]

I had both eyes worked on this year, the change has been dramatic. I use reading glasses for close up reading and the phone. I don't use them for shooting, just the shooting glasses. Just yesterday I noticed the lights in the house suddenly seemed much brighter.

I went 8 for 8 on the 8" steel targets at the range with my 9 mm Shield at about 25 yds the other day. Don't know if it was part cataract surgery or concentrating on the front sight, but my eye sight is much better.

Have a blessed day,

Leon
