After many years I finally shot my 10-5 again. I forgot how nice this gun shoots. My father bought it in Ca back in the mid 60's I am told, been in my hands since 1983. Now has approx 200 rds down the pipe. Must shoot again. :D:D

They do shoot quite nicely. How long has it been since you last shot it? What barrel length does it have?

There is something nice about the feel and balance of the pencil barreled Mod 10s. Great shooting guns.

I have my dad's 1968 Model 10-5 with 6 inch percil barrel and it's a beautiful revolver. He fired about 20 rounds through it and I have put about 50 through it and it looks brand new. They are nice shooters and have nice balance.

I found a like new 10-5, 4", standard barrel gun a couple years ago. My reason was entirely emotional. My dad bought this model for my grandfather in the mid-60s. When my grandfather died (actually my mom's father), the gun went to another son-in-law. Dad was too much a gentleman to protest. My dad has been gone now for some years and I always wanted a 10-5...just because.

Like you, I love shooting the 10-5. The fixed sights are perfectly regulated. The action is smooth. And there's something inescapably romantic about making blued steel and walnut go "bang" in such a way that holes appear where you want.

The last time I shot it was back in about 1987, I think. A lack of place to shoot and being overseas didn't help. I think it is a 4" barrel as I really don't know where to measure from. My Father passed in '81' and my mother gave it to me in "83". It is still as accurate as the shooter, (bested my son, he was shooting my new XD 9mm). Wife loves it, but she can't have it, it is mine.

Not a photog but I'll try some pics. JT :D

I love my 10-5, always had a soft spot for the 6" taper barrel 10's. I also have a 1920's era 6" M&P.

I added the semi-target hammer and standard .265 trigger from a Model 14, and it slicked up pretty nice. I have impressed people a few times shooting groups at 100 yards with it in SA. It's an awesome shooter in DA, too. With fixed sight revolvers like this, who needs adjustable sights:)

It's a 5 inch, my favorite length. Nothing better.
