Shooting feral pigs from a helicopter....

Uhhhh.........DANG!! Now that is some sort of shootin' there!

Several of us at the Monday morning coffee table have been debating on what that guy is shooting; Buckshot or Slugs.

I'm not sure, but he's one heck of a shot!!!

I've done a bit of photography from the cockpit of my brother-in-law's Hughes 269A helicopter . . . and getting a decent shot with a Nikon from a moving helicopter is a trick!

I just can't imagine that buckshot would be THAT effective at that range.......I mean, what ever he's usin' is puttin' 'em down quick! Some of those shots looked to be quite a ways out there.

It appears to be buckshot in that dust kicked up by some shots seems to show multiple impacts, but it's hard to believe how effective it is --- looks like those pigs just fold up, KO'd by one shot. I'd like to know what the ammo is. The new Federal buckshot loads with the Flyte-Control wads produce astonishingly tight groups, but it's still just buckshot...

Around 2:30 you can see some spread. Must be some 00 or 000 buck. Might be some kind of exotic buck and ball combo I guess. But either way there is some slight spread and it knocks them down pretty good.

XXXXXXXXXXXX

000 Buckshot out of a 10 guage. Pellets are .36" going about 1400 fps, one hit with an inch of the spine and the pig will usually fold up from a dead run. He might not stay down forever, but the shock that near his spine will take his legs out from under him for a few seconds.

I was watchin' and thinkin' I'm glad I don't have his helio bill or his ammo bill! I'm also thinkin' I don't want to smell his property for a few weeks after his "hunt". With any luck they've somehow marked where they put them down and went in with a quad or somthing and hauled the smelly things out.
