Thx for posting this. Was about to search for this info.

Another great loss and another one just short of retirement.

Prayers sent for the family of this hero.

Pecked out on my iPhone.

A 19 yr old in a California bar?

Along with a man bringing a gun into a bar?
It's a Gun Free Zone according to California laws.
Both of these things must be stopped with more comprehensive common sense gun and drinking laws.

California must lead the way now.

I am absolutely enraged and humbled by these events. Enraged by the whac-knot coward mowing folks down while defenseless (they follow rules/ laws). Humbled by the LEO bravery, recognizing it was "his turn" and performing magnificently. Joe

Seems that the gunman was a Marine, 29yo, Glock legally purchased, not clear if he had >10 round mags, minimal contact with LE, some as recent as April this year, but cleared by their mental health team.

Radio news reported "extended magazine". Those are against the law in Cal.

As a3rd generation Callie I believe the drug problem has to addressed before the random killing will be solved. Drugs are rampant here & our political leaders are not doing a thing to stop them. Giving needles & housing is not the answer. Enough said.

Very sad that shooting other people seems like a choice to some folks. I wish that I knew the answer to why that is so, and how to stop it. My prayers for the victims and their families. It seems that if you are going to have a large gathering in your establishment, you need armed security, or patrons, in place rather than police to respond after the fact.
Like many states, licenses to carry in California are not valid in bars. May God protect us all.

15 of my 50 years working for a paycheck have been spent "holding keys" in various psych facilities. Most folks would rather die or worse than be "put away." Fact is if you seek real help permanent disabilities are attached. Most folks experience ups-and-downs in a lifetime and would benefit from a "time out." Except as a society we don't allow that. It's "all or nothing" in just about every area of current American society. Until that changes and we "increase the love" and cut down on "punishment", expect more madness. Joe

This x1000. After all the family heartaches and deaths I went through in a four year period up to 2011, I threw myself into my work for a year basically to catch up. At the end of that period contract shenanigans resulted in me getting an unexpected sabbatical. It was the best thing that could have happened to me.

Sadly, the "all or nothing " approach most live by prevents them from stepping away because they cannot afford it. I was lucky in that I could, although much of that security came from burying family.

I just watched a news report where they said there were a lot of off duty officers in the club, all unarmed, it said.

Why would off duty LEOs be unarmed?
It’s at about 3:50 in the video.
Chilling video shows inside of California bar as shooter opened fire [Video]

Many departments in many jurisdictions have rules that ban taking your off duty gun into alcohol licensed premises.

Edited to add:

Typical Yahoo hyperbole. Confusing rather chilling best describes the video.
