We are going up to the Poconos for a bachelor party on the 3rd weekend in May. Does anyone know any shooting ranges in that area that would be perfect for our small group? Only a couple of us have our own guns so gun rental would be nice. thanks!

Poconos is big! It runs from north of Split Rock (thats almost NYS) down to almost Allentown (closser to Philly). Thats an hour drive on a highway. Where? What town? There is a State game land range just outside of Jim Thorpe. If youre headed to that area i'll give you the directions.

A bunch of drunk guys or guys with hangovers, should not be handling firearms.

How do you know they are gonna be drunk or hungover? Maybe they'll hit the range first? No? Maybe last? How about they dont drink? Maybe the groom is 89 years old and the party bus is coming from a retirement home and the bachelor party consists of drinking Geritol and watching reruns of Matlock!

Can we stop parenting everyone.

Well, let's just say I haven't ever heard of a proper bachelor party (nor have I ever attended one) that didn't involve drinking. :D

Well, I'm old school. I remember when batchelor parties meant a steak dinner at the upstairs room at Charlies, then down to the Montelone hotel to the hospitality suite or a boathouse for the entertainment portion of the evening ;). Everyone pitched in for the groom and it was dutch for anyone else. Guns were kept hidden and were for protection only in case something went south.
I guess that went the way of helmetless bike riding

Drinking will be involved during the weekend... but definitely not during a shooting range outing or any other daytime activity for that matter. As far as the area... we aren't sure yet where we're staying. Kinda trying to find the activity... then find a house nearby.

Well i can only speak for Jim Thorpe. Its a touristy town. Kayaking, mountain bike riding, paint ball, hiking, but thats more of a family thing.

One nice bar..Molly McGuires. There are others but i dont know them. Shooting range a few miles outside town but its state game land so byog no rentals. 25, 50, 100, 200 and 300 yards and you'd need someone with a PA hunting permit or pay online $30. New rule cause people mistake range for trash yard. No ROs but game wardens do drive by from time to time. Get caught without a permit and they'll ticket you and ask you to leave.

Where are you guys coming from? Might have more fun in Philly!! Bars, clubs, strip joints!!

We're from Delaware so we already spend alot of time in Philly and AC. Kinda wanted to make it more of an outdoorsy type of weekend... more chill than anything crazy. You mentioned someone would need a PA hunting permit... does that mean just one person from the group? Do you know the name of that range? Thanks again!

There is no address and no anything near by. Easy to drive right past. Its on rt93 about 2.5 miles after you turn on 93 from 209.

If you need directions or gps coordinates lemme know

If you want to shoot indoors, go to the Pocono Pistol Club in Stoudsburg. They have a really nice range. They also rent guns. Their phone number is 570-424-2940. If you go on a Saturday morning you will probably see me.
