This question is brought up now and then and I usually do not post loading data of mine, over the manuals but deceided to add a picture of a test and shed some more light on the subject.

Many pistols due to makeup, need a shorter OAL load to feed and work properly, while some loaders use it to gain additional fps with the smaller grained powders that will fit in the smaller volume area, where large flake powders have to pass.

Noting wrong with a short OAL if it works for you, just that most of my 9mm pistols do not do well in the accuracy department with plated "Ball" bullets, until they reach a 1.12" OAL and I even have a 124 FMJ at a OAL of 1.165" that is super accurate.

Here is a picture of a short OAL test that I did a while back to add some more info on this subject.
These are full loads so don't use unless you work up to them in your weapons, for your safety.

Enjoy.
