Hi folks,

These ended up in my stash, and the only .40 I currently shoot is a 4006TSW CHP that these do NOT fit. :D

The Performance Center markings suggest a Shorty Forty origin story, but wanted to lean on the experts.

All input welcome, thanks!

Only a couple hundred SD-40s built around 1994.

Shouldn't those be 9rd mags

There's a 9th witness hole on other side. I showed this pic because of the PC markings.

I find it interesting that there are two distinct markings, both in the location of the logo and the caliber font.

Would anyone care to speculate on an exceptionally fair sales price for these? They are surplus to my collection. Thanks!

I would not hazard a price however I would say that of all the compact magazines they ever made that HAVE the included PC emblem, these would be the most plentiful and easiest to find.

You got me thinking about it.

It might be better for you to trade these for magazines or whatever that would be beneficial to you. I'm sure that there are purists out there that must have PC marked magazines and would excessively pay for them. For whatever reason people pay more for "Restricted to LE/Military" marked mags too.

The days of $29.95 excellent condition 4013TSW magazines are gone and have now almost doubled for the easily obtained ones. A few months ago on GB I "watched", (and bid $39.00,) on a mag like you have. It went for $68.00 plus shipping.

Those are Shorty Forty magazines. This model is a 4006, but used a specific 9 round magazine. instead of the 10 round for the standard 4006. I am not aware of another Performance Center .40 caliber that would use these magazines. They also have a large "dimple" on the front of the magazine and the gun has a clearance cut in the magazine well. This was to prevent using the .40 magazine in any of the 9mm Performance Center models.

The standard 4006 mags are 11 rd double stack - early with yellow follower - late with blue follower. The 4006 Shorty40 are 9 rd and appear to be same as 9 rd double stack blue follower 4013TSW except for PC marking and yellow follower.
Curious as to late Shorty40 Mk III & Shorty40 2000 follower colors.

My Yellow Follower Shorty Forty mags are non-slide locking. Do the blue 4013TSW followers lock the slide back?

While I agree that these magazines are most likely for the Shorty 40, (because of the total number of Shorty's produced,) they would have come with the 40 Recon also.

I am on vacation away from my pistols but as I recall the 4013TSW blue follower mags do lock slide back in 4013TSW, 4053TSW, and 4056TSW - and I believe my yellow follower PC mags lock slide back in my Shorty40 Mk I. I will try to verify next year.
The only 3rd gen mags I have that do not lock slide back are a couple of 4040PD mags with worn followers - new 4040PD mags lock slide back.

All the magazines are "slide locking" when empty. Again, the 4013TSW magazines are identical to the PC ones other than the follower color and the PC marking. Yellow/blue all lock the slide when empty.

Since you have more than one magazine, (?) that does not keep the slide locked back, I'd think about checking/cleaning up the slide stop. That's assuming the followers and magazine springs are in great shape.

Forgive my ignorance, but would these fit in a 4014? I posted about one a couple of days ago and seriously thinking of purchasing it and could use some additional magazines if bought.
