I was hoping S&W would announce a 2.0 version of the original M&P compacts. It didn't happen. Oh well.

In fact, outside of some Performance Center stuff, S&W didn't make much noise this year. Maybe having the best selling subcompact (the Shield) has made them complacent.

Sig pretty much stole the show with the P365. Oh well.

They might be waiting to see if the 4" Compact kills the sales of the 3.5 version. It shouldn't take much money to produce a 3.5" M2.0 version as they already have the short mags, slides and barrels in their supply system.

The short grip pistol is still significantly smaller than the 4" and I think there's still a good market for it as Ruger, Glock, Sig, Beretta and FN still make guns that size.

They have a staggered roll out plan. New guns just keep trickling out. If only they would let us in on it! I am interested in a 5" no safety in black. I kind of like the FDE, but not forever like. I am not surprised that they would put space between the new compact and the 2.0 old compact. I believe it is coming because of what was started above, many companies have a model in that size.

If they were smart the new one would be thinner in response to the 365.

Not so sure they have the short mags. I'm over 5 months now waiting for my S&W mags/ammo rebate for a 1.0 compact. They keep telling me they are waiting on the mags.

I was hoping against the odds that we might get a 5.5" to 6" 2.0 CORE in 10mm. I can't be the only person thinking this would make for an awesome wood/field carry piece. Something to compete against the GLOCK Model 40 10mm. Other companies are adding 10mm back to their offerings, but mostly 1911 clones. Smith needs to go M&P w/ double stack mag and give Glock some competition.

A 9 Sub compact 2.0 would be something id love to see as well. Bodyguard 2 as well.

Its sort of getting to be a trend to announce your new stuff before the show now like Smith and Springfield did.

S&W does not always wait for a show to introduce new guns. The 2.0 compact appeared out of nowhere and I am hoping something I want might do the same later this year.

If they do make a 2.0 replacement for the 12 round compact I hope they put a slimmer slide on it. Without making such a gun incompatible with current magazines they could not make it as small as the Sig P365 but I think they could make the slide about .1 inches slimmer and maybe trim off a little weight. I carry IWB and how slim the frame and slide are matter more than how thick the grip is.

While not a pistol another gun I would like to see would be a 9mm carbine. They look like a lot of fun and I will likely end up buying one of the Ruger carbines this year. If S&W made one that was some combination of lighter and/or less expensive than the Ruger I would buy it instead. A conventional looking carbine would be my preference but an AR type carbine would be OK too.

I just got the FedEx text that my rebate (06 Oct w/ short 10 round 40 cal mags) is on the way. No shipped notice on the Milano website, oh well.

That kind of sucks. Those are the exact mags my rebate is waiting on, and the rebate was accepted in their system on 8/31. Looks like I need to call again.

It will be very hard for me to ever get a S&W product ever again, if part of the decision to buy is based on a manf incentive. I'm a patient guy, but this is ridiculous.

I should mention that I originally applied for the rebate on 14 Aug and was rejected. They sent a form through the mail that I filled out and returned with the dated receipt and was accepted on 06 Oct. I don't know if that put me into a different queue or if my "place" was held by applying in mid Aug.

You might not have been skipped over as it may have appeared from the 06 Oct acceptance date being after your date.

Instead of all the cutesy little terms for guns why doesn't S&W just fix what's wrong with what they are already making? They just sound stupid!

Personally, I prefer names compared to numbers for gun designations. To each their own.

2.0 & such sounds like computer software. S&W should be able to do better than that. Why not -1?

S&W built momentum ahead of shot with the 2.0 platform announcement.
I suspect they received a great deal of consumer feedback there. Time will tell as to the success of the 2.0 and I'm sure S&W will fill product voids where needed. I myself am a huge fan of the original compact especially post 2013 models incorporating the trigger updates. It's size itself makes it the perfect EDC an we all know it's ergonomics makes for superb handling especially under duress.

I think that whoever comes out with a slim Compact Single Stack will be the winner.
The Shields are an okay size, but if they retained it's thinness, added another 3/4" of length on it's slide and grip, and added 2 more rounds to the standard, flush magazine, now that would be an ideal size for CCW.

S&W introduced their 380 EZ the week after SHOT show. They must feel it is better to announce new products on their schedule so they do not have to share the press attention. They are also very good about keeping quiet about new releases until they are ready to go. Hopefully we will get a couple of nice surprises later this year.
