At a USPSA match on Sunday, I had just finished shooting the second stage, unloaded and showed clear and when I tried to holster (after hammer/striker down ) I couldn't get the pistol to lock into my holster. I finally got it to lock in and when I went to the safe table to see what was wrong, I found that the end of my compensator was gone. I went back to the bay and found the end. Apparently (judging by the carbon tracks on the break) it cracked in stages until it got to a point where it rotated forward and the last shot knocked it all the way off. This comp is 3 months old. I sent some pictures to SJC and they were very quick to send me a replacement. They said they had never seen a failure like that, they suspect (and I agree) that there was a flaw in the blank before they machined it. Once I adjusted the end of the holster to make up for the missing half inch, I shot the rest of the match without incident.

BK,

It actually looks like it hinged and the last round caught it, at least looks like it. Either way, had to of been cracked long before you started putting rounds through it. At least everything went down range, and you were able to stay in the game.

Its always something, as you shoot enough and all manner of odd things seem to break at some point.

good luck

It also explains why I scored 15 Alphas and a Mike on that stage.
