I am a pawn shop shopaholic and I am always on the prowl for S&W s--mostly blue pre-lock stuff. I missed a model 51 round butt--according to the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson Book. (SCSW) there were about 600 of those rascals made. I went back after two hours and puff-- it was gone of course. I almost screwed up and missed the model 10-6 in 357 caliber that I grabbed two weeks ago with some reading and help from some of you folks. Anyway, I am a pretty good reading sponge, but I can't remember everything. What do you think of taking the Standard Catalog (S&W Bible) with me? Is this a no-no move or no big deal? should I leave it in the truck while drueling?

Need advise.

OneGunShort nailed it. I used to take along my refrence book's and such when I was learning my way around the M1 Garand.

yep, saves on time as well as gas, and /or the "hurt' of getting all the way home and finding out YOU screwed up.........besides, impossible to keep all that good info and data in ones head........

Can't say as I've ever bought anything that I didn't intend to shoot... never bothered with the book for that reason.

I always put my SCSW in the car when going to gun shows, etc. More than once I've gone out to the car to do a little research or "called a friend" to get enough info to make a decision.

I often carry it in the car with me when I am on the prowl.I don't carry it in,but I sometimes go to the car, and check.

scan it to PDF put it on a 'smartphone' and 'check a text message'

What is a "smartphone" ?

My cell takes pictures I hear! :D

I thought of that, but I will have to sign up for two more years on the old contract with the money-suckers----ah---I mean cell phone company.;)

I agree with the others. Take the book, but leave it in the car. When I was making regular visits to antique malls and shows, I would take along my reference books and price guides, and I used them a lot. Sometimes they helped me get a bargain, and sometimes they kept me from paying too much. It doesn't cost a thing to take the book along. It might cost you a lot if you don't!
