This revolver has fast become one of my favorites. I bought her strictly because I have a fetish for N frames and the price seemed right at the time. Little did I know these guns can sell for a few hundred more than the asking price at the time... And you couldn't get me to sell her for twice a bloated price tag. I cannot fathom why S&W dropped the all stainless three inch .45 ACP revolvers, but I know this one isn't going anywhere but with me to the range time and time again.

The only thing that half bothers me is that I can't find a wood grip that really feels as good as this small Pachmayr Presentation grips. The closest has been an Ahrends Tactical smooth front. But even that just didn't feel right on this smooth shooting girl. I'm starting to think this may be the one rubber grip that actually stays.

And yes, those are Rimz... Luv 'em...

They are a fun one to shoot. Its been awhile since I have had mine out. Now you got me thinking it needs shot abit just to finish the year out with a Bang !

Picked mine up yesterday at the FFL, and had it to the range for lunch today...

I have Spegels on mine but they are the standard boot, not the plus size. They leave the bottom of the frame exposed. I love them. I have them on 3 different short barreled carry guns, 2 N Frames and 1 K Frame.

I cannot fathom why S&W dropped these either. Great looking gun... I am looking for one myself. How does it shoot?

Here's mine. I traded a 625-8 JM on it. That tad extra weight in the front really makes a difference. It came with the box, original Pachmayr stocks and I put these Ahrends on it.

I'm guessing those are cocobolo. Are they the S or S+?

Bob,

They are cocobolo, but I don't know exactly what quality. The actual rating didn't come up in my discussion with Craig. At the time I bought these, I'm not even sure that he had his current rating system (this was one of the first Boot Plus sets he built). He described the wood to me, and said that he liked it, so that was good enough for me. The checkering is custom - I told him what I wanted it to do, and he proposed what you see, which meets my functional requirements. The requirements were (1) smooth along the backstrap to allow easy repositioning of my grip after a reload, and (2) much checkering along the sides so that a firm grip would not let the gun slip in a wet hand.

He's a great guy to work with.
