Sig P210, US model

I asked my friendly LSG to get me a Sig NH made new model Target P210 and let me look at it.

I went today and I spontaneously said: That's not fair...I was not going to by this one but can't resist.

The slide was super tight but smooth, no play in it but felt like glass smooth. Trigger very smooth and broke crisp like glass too at 3 lbs or less. Very low bore axis, large perfectly shaped grips perfect for my rather large hands. Enough space for my long finger. Fiber optic front and serated rear were nicely set up for my liking. Tight enough gaps to be accurate also at long distances which I have a tough time with some combat sights. But they seem well dimensioned to be excellent for quick target acquisition.

I think in terms of ergonomics I am going to do well with it. Main use will be IDPA. So far I figured all about it should be legal for ESP. Only slight disadvantage will be 8 round mags but that can be doable on most stages.

Am I overlooking something here?

Anyone has any range experience with one already? What accuracy did you get out of your?

I saw the new ones at the NRAAM this past weekend and they looked and felt very nice. I have an older one and it is, as the hype suggests, an incredible piece of functional art.

It shoots so accurately and is fitted and crafted so carefully that it is a pure pleasure to shoot. Every time I take it to shoot, I bring it home and clean it and put it on the "do not shoot shelf" but that resolve never lasts.

If money were no object, I might get one of the new ones so the old one can remain on the shelf.

Sadly, I can give you no insight into using it in IDPA or other competitions, but I can fairly guarantee that you won't suffer from lack of quality in your firearm choice.

Well not yet...here in our state of NJ you can't just decide to buy a gun...you need a license first. 2 more weeks wait and good to go. I know I won't even try to resist the call. That gun spoke to me just too loudly.

Good description. Super tight, but super smooth.

Odd thing about it when dry firing, it had an odd internal bounce after the hammer fell. Like a spring whipping around; it felt just like a Daisy BB gun.

Clerk said you probably wouldn't notice it when actually shooting it, as recoil and noise would cover it.

I'm holding out for the Super Target model, with a 6" barrel.

Just bought one at Cabelas, shooting it tomorrow. VERY impressed with slide fit, grips, smoothness and trigger pull. Plus, it looks great!

I have a P210-6 Target (Swiss) and recently purchased the USA version. The new version is a joy to shoot and very accurate. The locking method is typical SIG and not like the Swiss guns. I find the slide more difficult to grasp with the slide rails on the inside. But the trigger is like shooting a target gun. Puts my Les Baer to shame. Wonderful gun!

I have a 1.5'' Baer TRS with a really great trigger but it felt this one is better. Can't wait to fire it.

I bought one of them a couple months ago. While I can't say that it'll quite run with either of my 952's in accuracy or trigger, it's very close. I like it better than I liked my X5. If they come out with a long barrel version I'll adopt one of those as well. I do wish they would hide a 10 or 11 round mag under those big grips so it would fit IDPA better.

Picked mine up at Cabela's a few weeks ago.
Am on light duty awaiting hip replacement, so only got to fire it after my "last" match.
Cleaned and lubed first, of course.
Shooting Geco 124 grain FMJ, it was so tight I had to hand-cycle the slide for the first two mags.
All I had in the way of targets was the dueling tree with 4" paddles at 25 yards, and an assortment of gongs.
Without touching the sights, I easily dinged everything I shot at.
So, hope to be back out by August for some real testing and load development.

thanks for the comments. The feedback seems all positive and no negatives. I agree so far, grip, hand position, controls, slide fit and trigger are top notch. I was looking for reasons not to move forward (I am planning to stop buying anything at all...) but failed....enablers...!!

I bought one and am pleased with the accuracy. Pretty sure that you could shoot bullseye with it and not be at a disadvantage in centerfire.

I'm curious about the front sight... is it in a standard dovetail?

Asking because I don't care for fiber optic sights for many reasons. It seems horribly out of place on this pistol. I would definitely want to change that out.
