Sig P230

When I was working on the PD, I sometimes carried a Sig .380 as a backup. Had a blue one and a stainless one too. Sold both and regretted doing so.
Today I found one on GunsAmerica and bought it.

Those Sig 380's were great. I had the SS version and it bit my hand every dang time. I sold it and moved on to bigger Sigs p225 P6 ect.

I did buy my mother the p230 and it is her purse gun. She loves it, and it doesn't bite her at all.

You bought a fine gun there. I bought my son a SIG Sauer P232 as his back up gun when he graduated police academy. It was one of the few guns that his department allowed. He carries a personally bought Glock 17 now as his duty weapon but sticks with the P232 because he can shoot it very well, much better than the comparable .380 Glock 42, both in accuracy and speed.

The Sig P230 and P232 series are excellent defensive pistols. Compact, lightweight, excellent ergonomics, and easy to shoot well.

Being an old Model 1911 shooter I tend to use a high hold on the grip-frame, and that can be a big mistake with the Sigs. The slide will take strips out of the flesh of your hand as it cycles under recoil! The only solution is practice, practice, and more practice!

Same is true of Sig's competitor, the Walther PP, PPk, PPk-S series.

My P-232 bit me the first time at the range. Never since, once was enough.

I've had mine since '03 and love it.

I added Crimson Trace grips to it also.

I've owned a few 230's and 232's. With some of today's micro 9mm's, they aren't as practical to me as they used to be. But they're well made and have very classy lines.

I'd forgotten about that, but that was another reason I gave up on them. Ppk and ppk/s too.

Those 230/232's, aside from being a high quality .380 of the day, are in my opinion, still one of the most visually appealing pistols ever. They resemble a fine, sleek, sexy sports car. There I said it. I get all smitten around them.

I still have a P230, carried one off-duty for a lot of years--lovely pistol, even though the design has been somewhat eclipsed by Glock, Ruger, and many others.

And I'm still looking for a pair of original SIG walnut grips for it, like the ones I had when I was working.

PPK's are the worst for that!!! I never met one I liked.

Keep your hands inside the bus and away from the moving parts.

I've tried advising others that just because you can get your hand higher doesn't mean you should and they look at me like I'm nuts. The English accent probably doesn't help.
