Those who have this gun...how do you like it.

also, I just received mine..no safety. I put Uncle mike's grips on all my guns, but almost feel that putting a black slip on grip on the M17 would be committing heresy??

I have basically the same gun, the M17 “Bravo”, black, with thumb safety. I actually shoot it a little better than the 92FS. Maybe I just try a little harder with the M17? :D

Grip sleeve - Heresy? Not at all, if you need it. I often use grip sleeves, but I don’t need one on the M17.

I like the gun just fine. It’s easy to shoot fairly well and it easily outshoots every M&P9 I’ve ever laid my hands on, except one. I own that gun, too. Between the two, I prefer the M&P because it sits lower in my hand and I like the surface of the 2.0 grip better. The S&W is one of the 2.0 5-inch models in FDE, and with thumb safety and tactile loaded-chamber indicator. Between it and the M17, you couldn’t go wrong.

I like the safety on the M17 M U C H better. It actually feels like a safety. I’ve only had the chance to shoot two M17s. Both were good shooters. I’d like to try the gun with a red dot, just to see what it will do. I’m at the age where iron sights are no longer as sharp as they used to be. :o

I have a kid going into the military so I told my wife I needed an M17 to instruct him. She knew it was BS....I like the gun a lot. I have added a Leupold Deltapoint red dot. First one I’ve had on a pistol. It took awhile getting used to it. Then it became very easy to shoot well. I shoot it with both eyes open also. As a side note, the Sig Romeo red dot doesn’t work on the gun which surprised me. But the Army specs were for it to be used with the Leupold so the civilian gun is the same. The thumb safety works well. There is a crisp click you can feel when you disengage it. I added an Apex flat trigger recently. The factory trigger was great. But I like the flat trigger I have on other guns.
