Purchased some LEO trade in P229’s (product code begins with W229 vs E229 on the box). I kept this one which was real clean and less than 2 years old.

Got to replace the E2 grips with something different. My SAS in .357 Sig has them and I like the feel, but I may “tart” this one up a little, Nickel controls etc.

Looks good. Nice score!

I actually like those E2 grips. They have just enough texture to be useful without grinding on your jacket, shirts, etc.

Congrats on a nice pistol. I own an older model (short extractor, stepped slide) version. Very reliable and mechanically simple.

Are you going to tinker with it or keep it stock?

Carried one of those in .357sig as a duty gun for a few years. Really enjoyed it. It's now relegated to a home defense gun. This thread makes me want to get it back to the range!

Ah, like my 229. It was my duty weapon for nearly 20 years.
I changed the grips and sights after I retired.

Was this a Red Box pistol? Recondition by factory. I passed on some at a gun show several years ago and went back several hours later and all gone. Federal LE trade ins. Regretting it since.

I bought one (SIG P229 in .357 Sig) from the local law enforcement sales distributor on Thursday. It was from the local Sheriff's Office and was one of the 20 or so "spare" guns they had. It was new in the box, does not look like it was ever taken out of the plastic bag it was shipped in. It was still "wet" with lube from the factory. Came with 3 mags. Only possible issue is the night sights are a bit dim as the gun is several years old (probably 10 or so). Not too bad for $425 plus tax.

I was issued and carried a P229 in .40 for many years. I liked it, but the grips were too large for my hand. This one has the E2 grip and I really like it as it fits my hand better. The only thing I will change is to add a short reach trigger (already ordered) I was also able to pick up two extra, used, mags for $10 each.

This store also got the Sheriff Office ammo on trade. I bought 2 cases of ball ammo and one case of Speer Gold Dot JHP several months ago. The ball was $299 per thousand and the JHP was $360 per thousand. Can't beat those prices.

I bought 229 DAK in .40 many years ago. Always liked the balance of the gun and it's accuracy. I hand load for it and keep it loaded with 165 grain Winchester SXT. I know at one time this model was the issue gun for the U.S. Coast Guard, not sure if they are still using it.

Does it look like this? :D Those went real fast, thanks for the call.

I was issued a 229 DAO for the first half of my time and then a 229 DAK for the second half. The triggers were horrendous and they were not reliable. I declined to purchase them when I retired and I wouldn't want one if they gave it to me for free.

The LEO trade-ins of Sig guns seems to be great way to pick up a practically new gun with additional magazines at a good price. Some good soul on the Forum posted a notice about a bunch of these Sig P220s in .45 auto that were traded in by the Connecticut State Police and being sold by a gun shop over in Coatesville, PA. A hop in the Batmobile and 2 hours later this gun was mine.

I started test firing the gun and the more I fired it the better it was shooting until I started putting the shots into the big gaping hole by the orange ring at 8 o'clock. I haven't taken it out since my cataract surgeries so I guess it's time to take it to the range.
