I was thinking today how the Sig Sauer P250 is in a way the Sig equivalent of S&W's Sigma / SD handguns.......
Although not necessarily one of my top favorite handguns, my Sig P250 has been slowly but surely working its way up the list. With a modular system which allows you to switch between full size, compact, and sub compact frames.... along with changing the caliber, it has the potential to offer a lot... especially for new shooters. Plus, the price is quite reasonable for a Sig.
I personally have the .40 subcompact with the .45 full size "x-change" kit. The .40 is okay, but it's been gathering dust since I'm quite pleased with the .45. In fact, the .45 has become my trusted nightstand gun after 300 enjoyable and flaw free rounds.
The sad thing is, there's not much love for it out there. There's one issue that people bring up most: the trigger. Much like the complaints about the SD / Sigma. Both of which I owned.... and got rid of. They just didn't do it for me,
The P250 has a double action only trigger. The pull weight isn't much, actually very close to the double action pull of my 681. In fact, the pull length is close to the same as well. Possibly the reason I actually enjoy the trigger is that I've shot so much revolver and it is so close to my 681.
Unlike the striker fired Sigma / SD which people try to compare to a revolver (I find their triggers too spongey) the P250 is hammer fired and has a very revolver like trigger. It's a shame it has such a bad rap.
I know there's the P320 now, but honestly, I don't have much interest. I have a highly tuned M&P that I love, and compared to it, the P320 wasn't much to rave about in my opinion. It felt nice in my hand, just like the P250, but the trigger wasn't all the interweb made it out to be. Nothing to make me slam my money down, for sure.
Is there anyone else here who appreciates the P250? Or am I alone in my enjoyment of the gun?
