I have an old model 41 and would like to mount a mini red dot sight such as a Burris Fastfire III or similar. I hesitate to have the gun drilled and tapped - it has the front sight mounted on a long dove tail slide that increases sight radius. Is there a mount that would fit in the rear sight dove tail? I've looked at the bme and cz websites and can't find one listed.

I intend to use the gun for casual indoor/outdoor target and perhaps hunting. What would be a good sight to help my aging eyes? Burris or other?

Thanks!

Model 41 sight mount

Hello,
yes there is a mount you can put in the dovetail of the model 41. They sell for $75.00, I have one I have never used, if your interested e-mail me, I will give it to you $65.00 shipped. [email protected]

Your barrel is called an Extendable Front Sight or EFS barrel and they are worth more than the standard 5.5" heavy barrel. So definitely don't drill it.

Check the websire for BME mounts (Black Mountain Engineering). I believe they offred a mount base which replaces the rear sight. If they do not have one in stock they will make a custom mount for a reasonable price. have used several BME mounts on a S&W 952, 945 and 52.
Alternatively you can purchase a new barrel which is predrilled for a Weaver base (les than $10 from Midway).
