I have an older Model 41 with several barrels. I would like to put a Docter style scope on my 7" undrilled barrel. I previous had an Aimpoint using the BSquare no drill mount but I want something that sits lower on the barrel. Is there another no drill alternative? I don't have any problem with having my smith drill and tap if that's my best option for a low mount.

I believe drilling and taping is your only choice, Not sure if S&W still have the optics only barrel, that would have been another choice, to sell that one off,and pick up the ORB. if you were willing to drill it, then you wouldn't really miss it.
I believe you have the 7 inch barrel, and hopefully not the 7 3/8.
I can tell you some of the after market optics only barrels made by EWK arms, give you excellent balance on the model 41. You might want to look into them, they are not all that expensive. Plus you can mount a C-more without a rail, you cant get any lower than that.

If its a older gun then possibly you will have the 73/8 barrel on it. The serial no. will answer that for sure. A good gun smith can and will be able to drill exactly what you want quite easily I would suspect. Ask him if he is Smith&Wesson certified. You will know for sure then.
