I have an older Leupold VX-1 2-7x33 that I would like to put on my Mossberg 464 30-30. The Mossy is tapped for mount screws on the frame, above both ends of the ejector. Considering it ejects nearly straight up (open bolt top ejector, not much to the side), all mounts and rails I've seen cause the scope to partially cover the ejection. Any of them could whack my scope with the empty. Not going to be unhappy if I don't figure this out before deer season opens here in WV this year, but would be nice to figure out how to put some extra range on my fav classic woods gun.

Any suggestions?

XS makes a rail for your rifle that would be suitable for either a red dot, or a scout scope, but your old Leupold does not have the eye-relief required for it.

The 464 is adv as :

The Mossberg is drilled and tapped for easy scope mounting. The bolt is round, rather than the 94’s square bolt. This means the bolt may be more like a bolt-action rifle bolt, and the bolt ejects cartridges smartly to the right, as an angle-eject Winchester will.

But I have never personally handled one to see one way or the other.
Seems in this Century that any new design would accomodate a scope that would not have to be mounted off on the left side of the frame.
