I have a 908 9mm that is a terrific little gun. I keep it in a holster in my softside briefcase. The other day I took it out for inspection and found that the rear sight was almost knocked off of it. It must have taken a hit from something. I was able to very easily push the sight back over with my thumb. This isn't gonna cut it. I want to replace the rear sight with one that has some sort of a locking device to secure it. I am not familiar with all the sight options available and what sights fit what pistol, so I'd appreciate some help.
Thanks!

I also own a #908. It is my understanding that none of the sights from other S&W models interchange with those on economy models, like ours. Trijicon, I believe, offers replacement night sights for around $125.00. You could also use rubber cement or Loc-Tite on your original sights to secure them.

Yeah, I may go that route before I put nightsights on. Have you ever had this problem? I have had this gun about 5 years, and this hasn't happened to me before.

If you want to keep the own sights you have several options. You can dimple under the sight to increase friction. You can also use a small amount of loctite, but make sure it doesn't enter the tube located under the rear sight.

For aftermarket sights, I sent my 908 slide to Novak and had them install a set of new metal sights.

I like the idea of the Novaks. How do you like them (very well I presume)and how much did you spend on that upgrade??
I may try the dimple thing for the time being, but I am not gonna be happy with that long term. Especially knowing someone else out there has what I REALLY want

I have only owned my #908 for a few months. I have not had any problems with mine so far. I like mine alot, and it has been my main carry gun since I bought it, except when I go to the north Georgia mountains. I carry a S&W #58 or #629 up there.

I enjoy the Novak sight, but they arent my favorite type of sight out there. I'd much prefer a set of Heinie Straight 8s, but those arent made for the 908, or most Smith pistols.

The one addition I'd do to the sights when you receive them is to color the sights in slightly with a green Sharpie. This covers the white insert ring and dulls out the rear tritium slightly which puts more focus back on the front sight.

As far as price goes; I dont remember how much I paid as I did it several years ago. I'd send an email to Novak and see what the prices are for purchase and installing.

there is a reason they are the "economy" version......

they are a good base pistol...aka 3913NL wannabe but lacking in the usual "cut corners" areas.....
