This is so frustrating..I bought the gun last week...immediately went to the range and put 100 rounds through it...had one jam when the gun failed to eject. Was at the range again last night...put 200 rounds through it..I had 7 failure to ejects...so I took it apart, cleaned and oiled it thoroughly. I called S&W this morning and they said to clean it (which I did) and buy a different type of factory round, go fire it and then if it still jams I have to send it in. So they've just sent me a shipping label in the mean while and I guess I'll have a verdict on Saturday as to whether or not it's a fault with the gun or the ammo....anyone else have any other thoughts on what it could be? Because I really don't want to be without for 2-3weeks while they repair it.
I will say when it worked...it worked great and I love shooting it.

". . . oiled it thoroughly" -- This and/or the ammo could be the problem. I have read that Sigmas run best when near dry. Some do not eject/feed properly when the slide/frame interface is over lubricated. I know it sounds counter to logical thinking, but it is true.

Interesting......do you have the link to where you read it's best to keep the sigmas more dry than oiled?

It does show in the manual to oil it only on the four rails and on the top of the barrel at the very front and the very back.

I think it does state to "lightly" oil those spots....or it could be my faulty memory.

Hope this helps.

I'll double check the manual...I didnt get too crazy with oil on the rails...the thoroughly part mostly applied to the cleaning portion of it....I'll de-assemble it tonight and lightly rub off any excess oils I can find though for sure..

Your memory is not faulty. The manual says lightly oil on the 4 metal pieces on the frame rail, and the top of the barrel.

What were you shooting out of it.
My .40VE did just fine with every 180gr I've put thru it. Same with the 165s. It did not like the 155s. A number of failure to fully eject etc. A lot of folks have no trouble with 155s so they suggested to break the gun in some more then try the 155s again. I put Speer, Fiocchi, CCI, and Remington 180s and 165s thru it. It didn't like the Speer Lawman 155s.

It's Saturday' so how did it shoot?
If you still have the problem send it back to S&W. When I sent mine back it took about a week and that was over a holiday.

Yeah sorry I got excited And posted a new thread about it. After cleaning her up I put 200 rounds through her atthe range. I was using 165 independence and pmc rounds. Shot the independence rounds first and had 2 fte's in 100 rounds. Then I put 100 through with the pmc's and the performed flawlessly. So in still on the fence about sending it in. Might chalk it up to ammo or breaking in phase. No sure. What do y'all think?

On a side note, I was curious if anyone knew of a high calpacity mag available for the 40ve? Also what's the factory spring rate? I've been thinking about getting wolf springs but am not sure what weight to use.

And finally I was wondering if there are any sight replacements for the sigma?

How do you install those? I'd have to essentially break my old rear sight off to remove it dont I?

Send it back. Preferably to Frank at LSG.
LSG, Mfg|Gun Parts|Warranty|Gunsmithing
He's the man. He will make your Sigma perfect in a week to 10 days. Ask him to smooth out your trigger while he has it. Don't go with Wolf springs if you plan on using it for self defense. Light striks are a common problem.

I've already contacted Frank due to all the recommendations from this forum on his work and speedy turn around..I'm just curious to the rest of you all with the 40ve, does yours jam up at all and have FTE's? Or should it be more of a rare occurrence than how it's been happening to me?

If there is too much oil this can cause problems. Is there any chance you are limp wristing? Just a thought.

I've heard limp wristing can cause it and I've been cautious about it. I think I'm at a point where there are too many variables and need to just send it in a professional...I'm leaving town soon and it would be a perfect opportunity to go ahead and send it away since I cant take it with me on my flight.
