Gentlemen, I'm looking to buy a pair of grips for my Smith & Wesson model 37 J-Frame and have it narrowed down to two. The first is a set of Pachmayr "Grippers" (which I have on three K-Frame size revolvers and really like) and a set of Sile that look similar to the Grippers. I've read about the Sile grips here on the forum but have never personally used them. Can anyone give me any insight on these grips and how they compare to the Pachmayrs? Comfort, longevity, quality, fit, etc? I'm looking to make a purchase because the Hogue grips on my 37 are just a little too small for my large mitts. Thank you in advance.

Siles are great...not too soft (tacky) and not too hard...I had them on my model 60...I would have put them on my 442 but I kept the butt small for ankle carry..

I have never really liked Siles. On both the wood and rubber ones, the fit often seems to be a bit off and they seem to be more cheaply made than Pachs, Hogues, Uncle Mikes, etc.

I saw a two pack of Siles - bigger and boot - for 9.99 on Ebay with no bids the other day. If you really want to try them, that might be the easiest way to obtain examples.

Strangely, they do seem to work well enough once they are wrapped with friction tape, but that tends to gather lint.

Never seen or used rubber Siles but I do put Pacs on all my bigger frame guns for range shooting. I think they are the best "rubbers" around.

Thank you for the link sir, that's an excellent price if not for the shipping. I guess I'll have to find some more stuff fron CDNN to make it worthwhile.:D

Don't know if you have considered them, Uncle Mike's made a full size grip for J frames. I'm kinda partial to them. They can still be found on ebay and Gunbroker. If you wish, I can post a photo.

sile grips

The ones I got had a gap between halves after mounting, they are OK, but not high quality

Here is my new 640 I just bought from 1991. Thinking about smaller wood grips for carry. Any suggestions?

In another thread over in the Concealed Carry forum, someone suggested stock wood grips with a Tyler T grip adapter. I asked the question because my 642 came with grips that are a bit too small and Hogue Monogrip I put on is way too big for pocket carry.

I just bought a set of Siles New Old Stock wood grips on Ebay. They are a bit bigger than the stock wood grips, but smaller than the Hogue or even the Pachmyar Compacs that I have on my Model 34.
