Finally got the call today that my form 4 was back with my tax stamp. So I ran down to my LGS and picked up my first suppressor.

Anyone here have experience with this suppressor? Thoughts on it?

congrats! If I may ask, how long ago did you do your paperwork? I did mine in May, and am still waiting on the call. I went with a Spectre 2 for my 15-22.

Sparrow

Really like the sparrow. Quiet with high velocity and very quiet with standard velocity. Really don't hear much difference between standard velocity and subsonic as standard does not crack sound barrier in my area. Usually shooting at hunting lease at 1,400 ft.

All three ammo types cycle easily through all my threaded semi autos.

Have taken it apart for cleaning just a couple of times, easy to take apart and reassemble.

If you really are looking to bring the noise down, give a spray of gun oil in front to "wet" the can.

One caution, if you have not already removed your muzzle brake, be sure to secure the barrel so it cannot rotate in the action. Have seen that happen with (2) 15-22's and its hard to get the barrel re-aligned. The muzzle brake sometimes is really tight.

Signed my form 4 on 4/5/16.

My LGS actually received my form 4 with the stamp a week or two ago, and mailed a letter to me notifying my stamp was in, instead of picking up the dang phone. I was not happy with them, but what ya gonna do?

The hardest thing about class 3 is waiting for Uncle Sugar to process your TAX form so you can take possession of your stuff.

The longest I had to wait was a year. It's gotten better, but that doesn't make the wait more pleasant.

I sure hope the experience of shooting suppressed is worth the wait and expense of this whole process.

Looking back, I have spent nearly $1,000 on a can that probably costs less than $20 to make. (Trust, Sparrow, tax stamp, transfer fee, time)

the sparrow on the 15/22 is awesome. standard and high velocity still makes a pretty decent report. subsonic functions fine and is super quiet. the major reason for this is barrel length. with standard and high velocity ammo there is enough time for the bullet to get to super-sonic speed and the crack heard is from the bullet breaking the sound barrier. if you want quiet/silence then you have to go with subsonic. just saying....lol

Just got my call today! I filled out the paperwork 5/23/16 and it came back today, date signed on 2/13/17.

Almost 9 months to the day..

For the 15-22, you'll also need a spacer; the threads on the 15-22 are .6", IIRC, and are about .2" longer than the sparrow allows.

1/2x28 Rifle Thread Spacer

Most dealers are not aware of this. You WILL need a spacer for the 15/22
Also a teaspoon of water for 1st shot will make that 1st one as quiet as the next. Without that water/oil/any liquid that 1st shot can be almost as loud as in surpressed.

good news

thanks for the dates, I filed 2 form one's to build 2 suppressors in June of last year, so I should be about a month out from my stamps.
I fooled around and just barely got them in before Obama's change in the "NFA trust" ruling.
No fingerprints and photos. Thats gone now, hopefully about the time I get my stamps back, suppressors won't be NFA anymore.

Isn't something, it's easier to get into the US , get on welfare, go to college free than it is to file and legally own a suppressor.
There is NO excuse for a 1 year waiting period

sent my form 4 to the atf 3/13/16; got the call from my lgs to come get my tactical innovations diamond suppressor on 2/3/17; it was so close to a year wait, I had almost forgotten about it; notice I said almost lol :)
