I'm having trouble keeping to the timed period for 1500 matches. Is there an easily sourced timer available I could use?

Actually, I prefer a good timer for practice that can be set for delay and shows the splits. That way, I can push the timer, get set, draw on the buzz, and then see exactly where I am using the time.

If you don't have the splits, you may miss the fact that you are shooting fast enough, but waiting too long to start shooting the first shot. Or whatever is wasting your time......

I think there are apps ok but you can't hear them when wearing ear protection. I down loaded a shot timer to my iPad but it's not possible to hear it's buzzer when wearing ears.

get a bluetooth speaker

You can get a simple bluetooth speaker at any electronics store. They are not expensive. I use an app on my smartphone for bullseye practice with one. Your iPad should work with it as well. Can easily hear it with headsets on and soft plugs in my ears. A friend has a headset with the bluetooth speakers built right into them.

The Iphone apps are ok, but a good shot timer is easier to use IMO. Agree, w/o being able to track the shots & splits, tough to see where you need improvement.

Yeah, a cheap timer might be easier to use, but I know of none that are cheaper than the "Free Shot Timer" app for Iphone/Ipad made by Innovative Applications. It works well and I can hear the go peep with ear protection. You can set the start delay or make it random. You can adjust the shot sensitivity to any level, which covers stuff like shooting rimfires or shooting under a roof. You can turn on/off PAR seconds. You can save your results.

For free, it's a great app.

If you have electronic earmuffs, they may have a headset input port. buy a male-to-male patch cord at Wally-woild. Then you can put the timer app on a smartphone, use the patchcord to link the smartphone to the earmuffs and, as they say in the orchestra pit: Viola!

I used a Bullseye app to train for my last match. it worked very well.
