I'm considering a Sourdough pancake for a 2" K-frame, or a Silver dollar pancake for a J-frame and I'm wondering how well the inside-out straps work on these? The ability to convert the holster to IWB is appealing but I wonder what if anything this converted holster gives up to a dedicated IWB holster?

I'm also curious how low the Sourdough and/or Silver dollar ride on the belt. I really dislike revolver holsters which place the cylinder bulge too high on the beltline.

Finally, I need another gun belt to trade off with my current rafter belt and am considering the one offered by Simply Rugged.

Any input on these holsters or belt would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have been very happy with the Sourdough Pancake with inside out straps for my 2-1/2" model 66 S&W. It is my preferred holster right now. It holds the butt in tight, the cylinder is low enough and it is really fast to take off and put on without removing your belt. Also draw is really fast and smooth and reholstering is easy. I really ordered the inside out straps "just in case", but have liked them so much that I have never taken them off. I own a dedicated IWB for semi autos and don't feel the Sourdough Pancake gives up anything to that. One caveat is that you might want to use some locktite on the screws for the straps. Mine have worked themselves loose a couple of times. I try to check them often. Overall, a great buy. I was also very pleased with the quality of the holster I received. I think it looks better than the photos they have on their website. I use a Beltman 1-1/2" Bullhide belt with mine and have been very happy with that also. Wear it every day, holster or not.

+1 on Majordudes comments. I have used one for the 4" 625 and with pants that have a bit of slack in them, find that this is a great holster for both IWB and OWB. I actually like the straps a lot better than I thought I would.

I'm very fond of the Simply Rugged holsters because the leather used is both strong and thin. My experience is limited to their pocket holsters, but I am sure it is the case with the belt holsters as well. Highly recommended.

I guess I'm the odd man out...I tried one of their pancakes for my 442 and it didn't feel very secure...so I gave it away...maybe I'm just used to overmolded rigs....

I bought a Sourdough for a 396 NG about a week or so ago. I like it quite well so far. It is stiff enough to keep the gun secure and where I like to keep it. I too have the belt straps for IWB carry and tried them the first day, but so far prefer the OWB location.

I have no experience with his belts, but based on my short stint with the Sourdough, I am pleased.

Got a Sourdough

Pancake for a 29 4". Celtic knot and basket weave in Ox Blood.

Like it so much I ordered another with a custom design job for a 6" Python.

The quality is very good on my Sourdough for J frame. The inside-out straps do not work so good for me but I think they will do better when I get a stiffer belt. By the way, I am also very pleased with the speed strip carrier.

Xcellent gear! Use a sourdough for my 3" N frame and they made
Me a carrier for the moon clips.

they've gotten rave reviews on the Ruger forum. I'm hoping my wife gets me one for Christmas...I spelled out exactly what I wanted, another 6 weeks and I'll know :D

Bought a sourdough pancake for my 629, 4" and really like it. Used it hunting on a chest set up this year and on the belt (owb) for CC. I don't think you can beat the quality. Unfortunally I didn't get the IWB straps so can't comment on them.

I have a silver dollar pancake for my J-frame and wear it a lot in the summer.

I also have a sourdough for my 6" N frames for rompin' on the ranch.

Can't tell you about the IWB loops, but I like the holsters.
