Hi guys..Well I should finally be picking up my S&W M&P 15-22 tomorrow..I have a pile of stuff I've purchased in anticipation of it ..
Here is one delema I need some help with.
So I purchased a tactical link single point sling and mount combo ..It was pretty expensive in my opinion @ 134$ but it was the one I wanted..
Any way I was looking at the mount and it doesn't look like it will work on the M&P-22..As it's buffer tube has the square ridge that runs it entire length of the buffer tube. Is it possible to cut a knoch into the buffer tube so my mount will work?.. please let me know your thoughts
Here are a couple pics I pulled off the net
Tactical link mount

The bottom square of the buffer tube I was planning on cutting just enough to receive the mount

A rule of thumb for working on guns is to always alter the cheapest part and avoid making permanent alterations to a gun under any circumstance unless your name is Bubba.

You ever use a single point sling? They should all come from the manufacturer with a cup to protect the family jewels.

Ok..So it's a no go on cutting the buffer tube..I respect that..And the thought of it makes me cringe..
I have read on the forum that the M.I. mount will fir the M&P-22 ..So I think I'm going to order that mount for the rifle, and use the tactical link mount on another ar-15 I have..
..I'm not going to get overly aggressive with the sling use..It's just for practice and playing around..So no..I have never used a single point sling but have been warned about smacking the figs when I drop the gun..Haha..Thanks for the heads up..Wait..For pointing that out..Oh you know what I mean..

I use a single point sling mount, similar to the one posted above by Tacticool22. But I also use a Magpul M-loc sling mount up front on the foreward most part of the handguard, in a two point configuration. I rarely use it in single point configuration, for the reasons already mentioned. But I prefer the way it sits on my shoulder, using the buffer tube mount. The stock sling mount position, makes the gun ride too low, and feels awkward. My sling is a Chinese knock off, of the Magpul MS4 by the way, and I'm pleased with this combo.
