I decided not to renew my $99 annual subscription and now am getting almost daily offers. They are down to $89 annual or $29 for six months and something higher after that. I might renew if the price was right. Does anyone know how low they will go?

Thanks,

Jeff

I'm on a couple car forums and this is a recurring topic (at least monthly). From what most say a lot depends on who you talk with. Many folks have hung off on a bad price and called back and got a much better price from the next operator. Repeat again if you must.

What ever you do do not give them a good credit/debit card as they will renew without your knowledge at a higher price next go-around and you will have to pull teeth to get them to take it off.. You can give then a card number from one of those use once, throw away cards you get at the checkout isles of supermarkets. They will insist on a card but stand firm and they will capitulate and you can use a check.

I have XM/serious available in my last two Vettes but I never activated it as contrary to what they say reception in the mountains where I live stinks.

Cancelled it years ago when we got iPhones. I forget what we were paying but it wasn't cheap. As soon as we cancelled they offered to slash the price in half and then more offers with lower prices kept coming. No thanks. We tossed the gear.

I don't know how low they'll go, but chances are whatever their last offer was they have another one a bit lower or with some other enticement.

They offered and offered, finally gave up on me.
At times, I am out in the boonies with little to no radio reception and wonder what they are playing on Willie's Roadhouse right now?
Most of the time I don't give it any thought.
Especially $99 of thought.

I love the technology.
You can drive coast to coast without having to play FM dial hopscotch every 50 miles.

I hate the pricing.
there are royalties to pay as well as peoples paychecks to write for the various broadcasts.
I don't need 100 stations, and I'd rather just have 6 in particular.
Thats worth about $20 a year to me.
But the car stereo will take all the MP3's I care to stuff into thumbdrives and plug in.
thats a better price.

Years back I was relegated to local COUNTRY WESTERN stations and that was about IT. Back in the early 2000's I got into Sirius and installed one in my Patrol car. Being able to listen to something interesting (talk radio/FOX) Or the music I really liked, made a huge difference each shift. Especially winter time night shifts!

Sirius XM probably kept me on the job a few years longer.

My wife haggled with them and got it down to something like $57 bucks or something odd. She's a wheeler dealer though, a true professional and finding a bargain. Same thing with her cell phone and Comcast. And it helps to ask for an American that speaks plain ENGLISH. She won't talk to anyone that is hard to understand. I've always aid that they just get tired of listening to her and give in,..............but it works. They will go that low at least. Oh, and they told her to call them back about a month before it expires and they would see about doing it again. It pays to keep hounding them and fussing I suppose. Good luck with it. I listen to about 4 channels, Fox news, Patriot channel, Joel Olsteen and Radio Classics.

I think the $99 per year is a decent price. That comes out to $8.25 per month. That's all I listen to. I also paid with my credit card and told them to contact me before any renewals. So far there has been no problems.

They hassled me by mail for months on end. Came free for a few months in my Captiva then the letters started. Cheap for a few months to hook ya and then I figured the price would rise. Passed.

Thanks for that. I only listen to about 4 myself, no sports and no Howard, so I wish I could subscribe my 4 for about $25 - $50 per yr.
I'm in areas with no reception a lot and sometimes my book runs out before I can use WIFI and get another on Overdive.

When I bought my last truck, I got it free for a year and I didn't renew it, I think they came down to 5 bucks a month.

AMEN to that. Had bad experience with them after giving my CC info. I now argue with them over price, threaten to cancel service, whatever it takes. I think the last time I paid ~$40 for 6 months. Always call them BEFORE your subscription expires, and tell them you want the same deal you have (if you like it) or you are going to cancel. They will negotiate. And NEVER give them your CC info. Tell them to invoice you. $2 more but worth it to me. I do like my Sirius. :D

Smart wife you've got there.

We've been getting the new customer introductory rate for about 20 years. It's saves about $400 +/- each year over what they would have jacked up the rate to after the first 12 months. I just tell em that the wife has seen the new bill and got so mad she told me to yank the cable out of the wall. Then ask if is there anything thing they can do to help me before she gets home from work. Kinda like good cop bad cop... :D

I called to cancel my subscription yesterday and they gave me 75% off. I also canceled my automatic renewal on my credit card. I had heard they gave you a discount if you try to cancel and they did.

Two and a half years ago I bought a new car.The dealer didn't have the color I wanted but said he could get it from another dealer. Couple of days latter I picked up my new car with four hundred miles on it from dealer in Louisiana. It had the Sirus radio and never have paid a single penny for it.

I only listen to station#61.
