I have heard of several gunsmith that offer a skeleton hammer with there trigger jobs. Does anyone have a picture of a bobbed and skeleton hammer they can share. How light is to light? I have a Apex tactical hammer and it is very sparse/ light. But I need a early hammer with the firing pin on the hammer. I think this takes the Bobbing to a new level

Three hole hammer

I bobbed the hammer on a Smith 19 last night. I did lighten it some ala the three hole design found on most 1911 triggers now a days. I can tell you that the CCH on this older hammer is quite hard and really doing what it was designed to do, Make the hammer hard. Any one have any tips on cutting through the Color Case Hardening? I like to grind off the surface hardening on the backs of the triggers before drilling and tapping for an over travel stop but did not want the to mess up the surface on the side of the hammer (which is seen)

Thanks enjoy the pics

-Robert

You would have to use a carbide drill to get through the case hardning, I drilled a K trigger for a rubber tipped set screw to shoot double action and I drilled it with a carbide drill but had a heck of a time tapping it to a 10-32 thread. Jeff

Skeleton Spur Hammer

I did a little grinding on the CCH and the end mill cut just fine... Here is a skeletonized spur hammer from my Smith C&P

Enjoy Robert
