SKS PARTS (pics added 7-12-15)

A work friend of one of my best friends has a Chinese commercial sks his dad brought back from Nam. As was the custom in the day instead of a safe or gun lock a part was taken out to render it safe. I need to find a proper bolt and firing pin to put it back in action for him. The charging handles under side is pictured to help get the right part. It looks a lot differant from my '93 Nirinco. Any help iding or obtaing the parts would be greatly appriciated. Thanks Joe

Well first, a VN bring back you gotta get that thing functional. I have an sks and really enjoy it.

Not sure about the variations in model, I believe mine is a type 56, but look at gunpartscorp.com a quick search found the bolt carrier $51.80 and the bolt (stripped) $35, firing pin retainer $12.95, no firing pin though.

Brownells has an "enhanced" firing pin $39.99. The sks has a tendency to slam fire if firing pin channel gets dirty or perhaps if softer primered commercial ammo is used. Brownells firing pin has a return spring while most stock ones don't.

Like the other posters said I see no pics but it sounds like you have the bolt carrier. Try loading the pic again, maybe smaller so we can see.

I'd say check out the Williams "firesight" also. It goes in the same place as stock sights and makes it much easier to hit. It's what I want next b-day.

Now go and get a mega-box of ammo and have fun.

Thanks for the responses guys. Managed to get pic uploaded. Can anyone tell if it is a
45 or a 56 from the photos. What Im hoping for is a fellow member being a gunsmith, dealer, or hoarder having one I can buy through the forum. Williams sights are a cool idea but I think he wants go keep his dad's rifle stock. Joe
