I need some help in picking a small voice recorder.I would prefer one that is voice activated,is thin and measures approximately 4 inches in maximum dimension. It needs to be able to record for at least an hour and as the user has a small reel to reel player it must use reel to reel tapes.

By reel to reel, I'm assuming the old style and not a modern cassette.
Reel to reel tapes are all but extinct. I doubt you'll have much luck there finding anything modern and serviceable. I have used small cassette pocket recorders, but I've gone to digital recording devices. I currently carry an Olympus digital that is direct plug in to any computer and is voice operated and has far more capacity than ANY cassette or reel-to-reel system.

I agree reel to reel will be hard to find, everything is digital now. I have a couple of very small recorders I use in my private investigative business. They are extremely thin and only a couple inches high. If you Google PI Mall they should have something that will work. I've been very pleased with the purchases I've made from them. I don't think you have to be a PI to buy from them.
